5. Beijing-Lhasa road trip route
There are three main routes in road trip, Tibet:
The 1.3 17 line is usually called the Sichuan-Tibet line. The route is steep and the scenery is pleasant, but the weather is changeable. It is often heavy rain, mudslides and falling rocks.
2.3 18 line, also known as Yunnan-Tibet line. The traffic volume is slightly less. The road conditions are similar to those of the 3 17 line. This is one of the routes that cyclists often take.
3. 109 Line (Beijing to Lhasa). This route is the best choice for entering Tibet. The road is wide and flat, and the line is slightly longer than the first two lines. Starting from Xining, Qinghai (you can go to Ta 'er Temple of Tibetan Buddhism (25km)), take Sun Moon Mountain (the route for Princess Wencheng to enter Tibet), you can pass Qinghai Lake (the largest saltwater lake in China with absolutely amazing scenery) and Golmud, and then go to Wudaoliangyakou at an altitude of 5400mm (you must bring oxygen). This route is uphill, and among the three routes into Tibet, the road condition is the best. Many truck drivers prefer to take the 109 road from Sichuan to Qinghai to Tibet rather than the 3 17 Sichuan-Tibet line. Finally, I wish you a pleasant journey!
