Zhejiang Normal University is located under the scenic Furong Peak in the northern suburbs of Jinhua City, adjacent to the national scenic spot Shuanglong Cave. Zhejiang Normal University, formerly known as Hangzhou Normal College, was founded in 1956. In 1958, it was upgraded to Hangzhou Normal University. In 1962, Hangzhou Normal University merged with Zhejiang Education Institute and Zhejiang Sports Institute and was renamed Zhejiang Normal University. In 1965, Zhejiang Normal University moved from Hangzhou to its current location in Jinhua. In 1980, it was listed as a provincial key university. In 1985, it was upgraded to Zhejiang Normal University. In 2000 and 2001, Zhejiang Finance School and Zhejiang Preschool Normal School were merged into Zhejiang Normal University.
Zhejiang Normal University is a multidisciplinary provincial key university with teacher education as its main feature.
