The township governs 10 village committees and 99 villagers' groups. By the end of 2002, there were 2,550 households with a total population of 10949.

The township is located in the highest mountain area in fengcheng city, with an average elevation of 125m. The whole area of Shijiang looks like Sichuan. There are Cup Mountain, Huangniling, Leifeng Mountain, Zhonghua Mountain, Wanniling and Penglingsheng in the east, which are 20 kilometers apart. There are Shihu 'nao, Niuwan Mountain, Jilong Mountain, Lianzi Mountain and Zhangjialing in the west, winding 18km, and there is a stone harbor in the middle, which collects more than 70% of the water from south to north and injects it into the Golden Reservoir. The coverage rate of mountain vegetation is about 95%, which belongs to the humid climate zone of north subtropical monsoon. The natural resources in this township are considerable, and 57 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines are distributed all over the township.

The resource advantage of Shijiang has laid a solid foundation for the development of township industry.

According to the inscription unearthed in Wanli Village, Changle Township built Pengbo Academy in Yixue Village to spread culture and cultivate future generations. Shijiang also has the only revolutionary base in Fengcheng, and the former site of the Soviet government in Changle Township is preserved in Shangshe Village.

Since the reform and opening up, 99 villagers' groups in the township have set up high-voltage power lines.

Shijiang Township is rich in human history, and ancestors lived here as early as the Western Han Dynasty. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, Wanniling Ceramic Factory was far ahead of Jingdezhen. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, the area under the maple tree has also been mined. During the Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty (1867), during the Ding Mao period, Shijiang Township built Pengbo Academy in Yixue Village to spread culture and cultivate future generations. Shijiang also has the Soviet government in Changle Township, the only Red Army revolutionary base in Fengcheng.
