Introduction to Fenghuang County

Fenghuang (Miao: Jib Zhes) belongs to the Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan. It borders Luxi County in the east, Mayang County in the south, and Tongren City in Guizhou Province and Songtao Miao Autonomous County in the west. It is adjacent to Jishou City and Huayuan County in the north. It is historically known as "it supports Yunnan and Guizhou in the west, controls Chenyuan in the east, controls Sichuan and Hubei in the north, and controls the Guangxi border in the south." Fenghuang Ancient City was built in the 43rd year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of 300 years. It was once praised as the most beautiful town in China by the famous New Zealand writer Rewi Alley.
