Why do people travel? 1000 words English essay

1 The rapid development of modern science and technology not only provides people with considerable disposable income, but also enables them to enjoy long weekends and paid holidays. Never before have so many people been to so many different places in the world. With the help of fast and comfortable modern transportation, more and more people want to leave their homes and see more places in the world. It seems that there are travelers everywhere.

People travel because travel brings them benefits in many ways. First of all, it can make them get a lot of fun from sightseeing and taking pictures. Secondly, traveling relieves their stress and makes them completely relaxed and ready to return to work. Thirdly, it provides them with an opportunity to visit old friends and make new friends. Finally, it allows them to see different customs, learn new things, gain new experiences, and enable them to come back with a broader mind.

Travel has so many benefits that I think people should be encouraged to travel frequently, especially during holidays, if their economic and health conditions permit.

The development of tourism has become a contemporary phenomenon experienced by all countries in the world. According to the data of the World Tourism Organization, the number of international tourists alone is as high as 546 million, and it is expected to reach 937 million by 2065. If domestic tourists are taken into account, the above figures are dwarfed. Without barriers such as national boundaries, language and cultural differences, people can travel more freely and frequently in their own countries. But why do people travel so often? According to Maslow's theory, everyone has different levels of universal needs. At the lower level of this level are the needs of survival, from physiological needs such as hunger and thirst to the needs of safety and security. Above them is the need to belong, be loved and be accepted by social groups. The second is the need for self-esteem, self-respect and respect from others. Finally, at the top of this level is the need for self-realization or self-realization, that is, the need to develop one's own potential, the need for aesthetic stimulation, the need to create or establish one's own personality and quality, and so on. After their own survival is established, people will naturally seek to meet other needs. Then tourism is a good solution, because it provides a lot of opportunities to meet most of the needs, which in turn constitute the main motivation for people to travel and vacation. For example, the need for safety and self-protection, which makes a person need to rest, relax, and change the rhythm, climate, environment and so on. It can be achieved through travel. On the other hand, self-esteem, including recognition and admiration from neighbors, friends and colleagues, usually motivates a person to travel. When a long-term dream comes true on a trip, even "self-realization" may come true.
