History of School of Tourism and Service of Nankai University

Nankai University, the alma mater of beloved Premier Zhou Enlai, was founded by patriotic educators Yan Xiu and Zhang Boling in 19 19. It is a national key construction university of "2 1 1" project and "985" project, and a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education. Nankai University adheres to the motto of "fairness, justice and rapid development" and carries forward the glorious tradition of "patriotism, dedication, innovation and fun", and has trained a large number of outstanding talents represented by Zhou Enlai, Chen Shengshen, Wu Dayou and Cao Yu, making important contributions to national rejuvenation and national prosperity.

Tourism education in Nankai University started at 198 1. After the reform and opening up, the development of inbound tourism in China urgently needs foreign language talents. Entrusted and funded by the National Tourism Administration, Nankai University established the Tourism Foreign Languages Department of Nankai University under the Department of History, and began to enroll students in September of 198 1, becoming the first comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education (then the State Education Commission) to offer tourism higher education. 1982 became independent from the history department. 1983 has set up a major in tourism economy and a graduate student in tourism management in the management department. The focus of teaching and research began to tilt towards economic management. Entrusted by the State Council Academic Degree Office, Nankai University, as the lead unit, conducted a successful research and demonstration on the setting of MTA in China. At this point, Nankai tourism education has also formed a complete tourism education training system from undergraduate, master of science, professional master, doctor and on-the-job training.

Nankai University is an institution of higher learning with the longest history and the most complete level of tourism education in China. The School of Tourism and Service of Nankai University has a strong faculty, with a team of teachers who are mainly doctors, masters and returned overseas students, including many experts and scholars at home and abroad and senior managers in the industry. Over the past 30 years, it has trained a large number of outstanding tourism talents for the society and is known as the "Whampoa Military Academy" of China's tourism industry. Ranked first in the comprehensive quality evaluation of graduates sponsored by the National Tourism Administration. 1995 was included in the list of key tourism education institutions in the world by the World Tourism Organization, and was awarded the title of "Training Base for Excellent Talents in Tourism and Hotel Industry" by the Asia-Pacific Hotel Association of the World Tourism Organization in 20 10.

The published series of teaching materials have frequently won excellent teaching material awards. School of Tourism and Service of Nankai University has established cooperative relations with many well-known universities at home and abroad. The College has signed a Disney theme park teaching practice project with Rosen Hotel Management College in university of central florida, USA. China Tourism Management Cadre College was formally approved by the Ministry of Education and established in Tianjin on 1987. It is an adult college specializing in tourism education and training under the direct leadership of the National Tourism Administration. Since 2005, with the approval of Tianjin Education Commission, China Tourism Management Cadre College has cooperated with Distance Education College of Nankai University to offer tourism management college and junior college education.

China Tourism Management Cadre College was established in Tianjin 1987. It is the only tourism professional institution directly led by the National Tourism Administration, and it is also the largest institution specializing in tourism education in China at present. Nankai University established the Department of Tourism in 198 1, and was awarded the master's degree and doctor's degree in tourism management in 199 1 and 2003 respectively.
