Qingyan Ancient Town is next to Guiyang Huaxi South12km213 National Road. It is one of the four ancient towns in Guizhou. There are walls around the ancient town, which are divided into inner city and outer city, and are made of square boulders. There are watchtowers, battlements and forts on the wall. The magnificent Dingguangmen Gate Tower complements the ancient stone road and the ancient archway.

Military ancient town 600 years ago

In the early Ming Dynasty, in order to control the southwest border, the central dynasty set up the Guizhou Wei command post in the sixth year of Hongwu (AD 1373) to control the postal routes of Sichuan, Yunnan, Hunan and Guangxi. As Qingyan is located in the middle of the main post road from Guangxi to Guiyang, there are "shops" for delivering official documents and "ponds" for delivering military intelligence on the post road, and there is also a garrison under Shuangshifeng, which is called "Qingyantun" in history. In the 14th year of Hongwu (A.D. 138 1), Zhu Yuanzhang sent 300,000 troops to Yunnan-Guizhou, and a large number of troops entered the hinterland of central Guizhou and settled in Xiatun, and "Qingyantun" gradually developed into a "Qingyantun" where the military and civilians lived together. There are 37 ancient buildings in Ming and Qing dynasties in the town, criss-crossing, including nine temples, eight temples, five pavilions, three caves, two temples, one palace and one hospital.

Celebrities have all lived in Gu Xiang and won prizes.

Qingyan is backed by mountains, and the whole town of Qingyan is made of stone, including slate houses, stone walls, stone workshops, stone streets and stone alleys. Qingyan is very big, and stone alleys like "ecstasy" are all over the town. There are countless gables between these bluestone alleys, and frontispiece's style depends on the owner's taste. New Year pictures posted on frontispiece have strong Guizhou characteristics.

Qingyan people are proud that there have been "great men" in history, and Zhao Yijiong, the first scholar in Guizhou, has become a tourist attraction.

Four religions in one town, each reading its own classics.

Foreign culture also quietly entered the ancient town through the path. The influence of religion is particularly typical, and it is difficult to see the scenery of "four religions in one" like Qingyan, an ancient town in China. Qingyan, Buddhist temples and Taoist temples are also full of incense. Although the Buddhist temple is small in scale, it has a good layout. There are many masterpieces with exquisite craftsmanship, such as the stone carving in Ciyun Temple and the wood carving art in Shoufo Temple, which can only be seen in Guiyang. Not far from the temple is the Christian church, where believers listen to the white-haired old man explaining the Bible. There is also a Taoist temple, and the prayers of Taoist priests are heard in the thick smoke.

History passes under the ancient arch.

Archway is the symbol of Qingyan ancient town. There are eight stone archways in the ancient town, but now there are only three. Zhao Bainian Square outside the North Gate, Liu Jiexiao Square outside Dingmen, and Zhao Bainian Square inside the South Gate are all north-south, 9.5 meters high and 9 meters wide, with four pillars, three rooms and four roofs. There are stone drum pillars or lion pillars on the north and south sides of the four pillars. In the middle of Xiao Jie Square, there are empty sculptures of "Two Dragons Grab Treasure" and "Five Dragons Map", which are beautifully carved and engraved with imperial edicts. I don't know how many women have passed under the chastity archway. Visitors under the archway now may not know what the price is for a woman who embeds her name in the archway. People only praise the grandeur of the ancient square.
