Weihai Road, Shanghai Weihai Road
Walking along Weihai Road, the streets are criss-crossed, and most of the houses have the style and characteristics of early Shanghai Shikumen. A series of "old buildings on the sea" are sandwiched between new buildings from time to time, which makes people jump and fantasize.
Maoming North Road, Weihai Road, is one of the few exquisite alleys in Shanghai, such as Jing 'an Mountain Villa. On the side leading to Nanjing Road, the main alley is already very wide. Rows of houses in sub-hutongs are neat and tall, with carved beams and some windows with colored glass. When it rains, the old house is full of homesickness in the humid air. They stood quietly in the depths of the alley, unobtrusive but different. People can easily get into those old things at sea and can't let them go for a long time.
In the southeast of the intersection of Weihai Road and Maoming North Road, there are many high-rise buildings around, and there is an ancient Shikumen building. Her current house number is No.5-9, Lane No.0/20, Maoming North Road, and the original house number is No.318, Jiaxiuli, Maoming Road. This is the former residence of Mao Zedong who engaged in revolutionary activities in his early years, lived in Shanghai for the longest time and lived with his wife Yang Kaihui. This is a typical two-story old Shikumen residence, with brick and wood structure, clear water exterior wall, black painted gate, copper ring door buckle and stone door frame. Cai Hesen and Xiang Jingyu live in the wing on the second floor, while Mao Zedong lives downstairs, with Mao Zedong's reception area in the middle. 1924, Mao Zedong ended his work in the Shanghai Executive Department of the Kuomintang due to illness and returned to his hometown in Hunan with his family. Comrade Mao Zedong visited Shanghai ten times from 19 19 to 1926. When Yang Kaihui was arrested, his three sons were wandering in the streets of Shanghai, and his youngest son Mao Anlong died in Shanghai hospital. Thus, Mao Zedong has indeed forged an indissoluble bond with Weihai Road.
Now it is recommended as a tourist attraction by Shanghai Tourism Bureau. Entering Jiaxiu, a bronze statue of Mao Zedong's family of four appeared in front of the green bamboo forest near Shimizu Wall. Yang Kaihui is sitting on a cane chair with a small herring in her arms. Mao Zedong is very funny. There is a small shore around his knees, so the family is happy and enjoying a short family life. As soon as people set foot in Jia Xiu, they felt the approachable demeanor of the great men of history.
Of course, there are many old apartment buildings on Weihai Road, which are still intact. No.651Weihai Road is a 7-storey apartment with mixed structure, and 1928 was completed. Seen from the air, the whole apartment plane is zigzag. The facade facing the street is decorated with dark and light tiles, the main entrance is decorated with arched coupons with higher vertical dimensions, and the window lintel is decorated with white flat coupons. This apartment was named "Sunshine Apartment" by Sun Chunshan, a real estate agent, after the English transliteration of his surname. Now there are people living except residents. There are also brands such as Shanghai Broadcasting Science Research Institute and East China Building Materials Company hanging at the gate.
In recent years, the enterprise cells of Weihai Road have been transformed rapidly, and now it is from Maoming North Road to Chongqing North Road. Modern buildings are clustered together one by one. Shanghai TV Station Building, Four Seasons Hotel, Zhong Kai City Light Residential Area, Gentleman Building, Zheshang Bank, Changsheng Building, China Minsheng Bank Building, Shanghai Merchants Plaza and so on seem to stand here overnight. Among them, the environmental layout of Zhong Kai City Light Residential Area is amazing. At the entrance of "City", a granite stone door with brown micro arch is abstract and modern, and the high-rise building with beige wall and green window frame is elegant and noble. On both sides of the "City" gate are two-story shops decorated with black marble, and the goods displayed in the window are beautifully packaged. A row of street trees are planted on the street, and a palace lantern street lamp is separated between every two street trees, which brings a trendy and modern atmosphere to Weihai Road.
The eastern section of Weihai Road is connected with Vu Thang Road on the south side of People's Square. People's Square was once the largest racetrack in old Shanghai, and Vu Thang Road was once called Racecourse Road, and there are still traces of arc racetrack. At that time, Weihai Road was close to Happy Valley Club, so there were many stables scattered between Weihai Road and Huangpi North Road. Today, No.20 Weihai Road is the management institution of stables and stables. This is a two-story bell tower building with a concave plane. The upper floor of the bell tower is the manager's office and the rider's dormitory, and the bottom compartment has nine stables respectively. Before the race, the horses were inspected and dressed, and then pulled to the grandstand of Happy Valley Hall (now Shanghai Grand Theatre) in turn, and then pulled back to the stable after the race. Today, Happy Valley no longer exists, but the stables in those days have become private houses and have been preserved. This is a great wonder on Weihai Road. When many people first saw this house with red tiles, green eaves and yellow walls, they always thought it was a strange house. When they know that this used to be the stable of Happy Valley Hall, they often feel incredible. But when they carefully looked at the two-story building with red tiles and white cement holes on the top, they had to believe that time has evolved everything. Weihai Road is really a road with a unique history.
