Shuiyu Village is located in the southwest of Nanjiao Township, named after the original river flows through the village from Nangou. According to legend, in the Qing Dynasty, it became a village. Shuiyu is rich in a kind of flat slate, which is called Shuiquanpi slate by local people. When building houses, ancient craftsmen painted on stone slabs and installed them on the gatehouses and walls, forming a unique artistic style of "water-jade board painting".

Due to the change of dynasties and cultural movements, most of the rock paintings were demolished or damaged, and only the vases, palace lanterns and ancient rock paintings with lotus patterns in the Wang family courtyard were well preserved, which are the only authentic works in Shuiyu Village.
