Thousands of tourists from all over the world visit the North Cape of Norway every year, European route E69 The highway's northern terminus is here, where you can see the midnight sun in summer and the Northern Lights in winter.

It is the northernmost point in Europe, at about 71 degrees north latitude, and only about 2,000 kilometers from the North Pole.

North Cape has been a coveted attraction for centuries. The name "North Cape" was given by British captain Richard Chancellor, who was sailing in the North Cape in search of the Northeast Passage to Asia. When he discovered the striking 307-meter-high headland, he named it North Point.

The first person to travel north to reach the North Cape was the Franciscan minister Francisco Negri. After several years of journey, he was finally able to view the Arctic Ocean from the plateau in the winter of 1664. Starting in the late 1800s, tourists would regularly sail to North Cape on cruise ships.

In 1965 the road to the North Cape was built and it is now much easier to visit the 'End of Europe'.
