Canada is a country occupying most of northern North America, stretching from the Atlantic Ocean in the east, the Pacific Ocean in the west and the Arctic Ocean in the north. In terms of total area, it is the second largest country in the world, bordering the United States in the south and northwest. For thousands of years, various indigenous people have lived in the land occupied by Canada. From the late15th century, British and French expeditions began to explore and later settled down.
