Introduction to Aka

It is a fishing port and industrial center on the northern coast of Israel, with railways leading to Jerusalem via Haifa and Jaffa.

Historically, Akka was ruled by Egyptians, Romans, Persians and Arabs. During the Phoenician rule, it was renamed Ptolemy. 1948 became a part of Israel. In ancient times, it was an important port from the Mediterranean coast to the inland of West Asia. Later, it was replaced by Haifa Port, and its harbor was silted up and turned into a fishing port. There are rolling mills, match factories, tile factories and plastic factories. Jazzar Pasha Mosque is very large.
