So do parent-child games have any role and value in treating children with ADHD? This study attempts to explore the role of parent-child games and their special value in treating children with ADHD based on existing research.

1 ADHD and its treatment in children

Children’s ADHD is called attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), also known as hyperactivity disorders (hyperactivity disorders). It is a common syndrome in children characterized by behavioral disorders. ②Usually, children with ADHD have the following symptoms: too much activity, inattention, easy to be distracted, short attention span, poor self-control, impulsive, large mood swings, accompanied by learning difficulties and oppositional defiance. Sexual and conduct disorders, anxiety disorders. ③The exact cause of ADHD is not yet clear. Domestic research generally believes that genetic factors are the main factor and basis for this syndrome, and environmental factors can promote or aggravate it. Treatment methods for children with ADHD mainly include drug therapy, psychotherapy, EEG biofeedback training, behavioral therapy, etc. Among them, drug therapy has relatively large side effects and can make children dependent on drugs, but cannot ultimately solve the problem and has limited effectiveness. During the medication period, no positive changes can be demonstrated after stopping the medication (B~&levers, 1999). ④ EEG biofeedback training has few side effects and long-lasting effects. However, this method is mechanical, and each patient’s brain will be different. Moreover, the causes of ADHD are different, and the symptoms will be different. Using this method ignores individual differences and lacks emotional communication between patients and doctors. It is divorced from children's lives and makes it difficult for children to actively cooperate. Behavioral therapy is an essential treatment for ADHD and is often used along with medication. However, behavioral therapy is not very targeted and the short-term effect is not obvious. Moreover, schools and families usually use preaching methods. Over time, children will feel boring and bored, and it will become a habit. ⑤

Based on the above treatment methods, it can be seen that the most obvious problem in the treatment process is the lack of emotional communication between the therapist and the patient, ignoring the individual differences of children, lack of pertinence, and lack of therapeutic effect. Unstable.

2 Analysis of the value of parent-child games in treating ADHD in children

In recent years, parent-child games have been successfully used in: confrontational behavior, anxiety, depression, adopted children, divorced families, single-parent families, Families where parents are incarcerated and families where children are sexually abused. ⑥In addition, parent-child games also play an important role in treating children with ADHD. The author tries to analyze it from the following aspects.

(1) Cultivate the awareness of obeying rules and improve self-control ability. Children with ADHD like to play, are highly motivated, and can quickly enter the game. However, due to poor self-control ability, they cannot abide by the rules well. In games organized by parents, game rules can help children gradually get rid of self-centeredness. With the supervision and help of parents, children can understand the fairness and reciprocity of rules during games, and learn to use rules to coordinate relationships with peers. In addition, in role-playing games, children can implement other people's behavioral rules through role-playing, thereby gradually learning to change their own perspective on problems and learn to see problems from the perspective of others. ⑦

(2) Improve the attention of children with ADHD. Ball and Parker pointed out that games between parents and infants can arouse the infant's attention and thus promote the infant's continued activity and exploratory behavior. For example, the gameplay of the game "What items are missing" is to first arrange the toys and other small items at home so that the children can remember them. Then, after the child leaves for a while, the parent hides one of the items, lets the child look at it again, and tells the child what item is missing. Parents can also take away two or three items and let their children talk about them. During the game, parents can constantly ask questions and communicate with children with ADHD. Their curiosity prompts them to focus on certain objects, thus improving their attention and the duration of their interest in the game.

(3) Relieve the tension of children with ADHD and reduce anxiety symptoms. Games are the main way for children to express their happy emotions. Unpleasant emotions in children's lives are vented and expressed in games, which promotes children's emotional development. When children express their inner anxieties, parents give them enough time and free space, allow them to express them, and seize the opportunity to educate them. This is very beneficial for relieving children's tension and improving negative emotions and behaviors such as fear, worry, shyness, apathy, withdrawal, and aggression.

(4) Emotional communication between parents and children is more conducive to the treatment of ADHD in children. The biggest advantage of treating children with ADHD through parent-child games is that they can establish a close relationship between parents and children. Children with ADHD are often ignored and disrespected, but children have feelings. Parent-child games can enable children to release unnoticeable anxiety and tension through activities with their parents in a relaxed and free environment, and at the same time feel the warmth of family affection. Parent-child games enable them to gain emotional support and are more willing to communicate with their parents and tell them about their feelings in the game and the problems and difficulties they encounter. If a person learns to communicate when interacting with his parents, his relationship with classmates, teachers, and friends will also develop well.

3 Summary

Parent-child games can not only enrich family life and close parent-child relationships, but also promote children’s development, benefiting both adults and children. When designing parent-child games, the game materials selected by parents must not only conform to the age and development characteristics of the children, but also take into account the characteristics of children with ADHD and arrange a free and interesting game environment for the children. In the game, cultivate children's good game habits. At the same time, parents should actively participate in kindergarten activities, maintain a good relationship with kindergarten teachers, and jointly promote the healthy physical and mental development of children with ADHD.
