What's interesting about Huangpi Dayuwan?

Huangpi Dayuwan ancient town is known as Wuyuan of Wuhan, because there are a lot of Huizhou buildings with white walls and black tiles, and the whole town is particularly quiet. The architectural style here is very suitable for taking pictures. Here is a list of interesting projects and attractions in Huangpi Dayuwan.

It's not just a big family in Wuyuan.

After driving out of Hankou and heading north for an hour and a half, we came to Mulan Township, Huangpi, which is nearly 70 kilometers away from the city. Dayuwan, an ancient historical and cultural village, is among them, hidden under the famous Mulan Mountain. Mulan Mountain, 580 meters above sea level, belongs to the southern foot of Dabie Mountain, with beautiful scenery and continuous peaks. Since ancient times, it has been known as the "hometown of Mulan", which has attracted many literati and poets to travel here and write articles. Together with the surrounding mountains, it constitutes a treasure house of "hanging gourd with golden thread", which leads to the article that Wuyuan Yu later moved to Dayu Bay.

Beautiful Mulan Mountain

I am a person who likes to see ancient villages. Of course, I have the habit of watching them. Whenever you go, you should chat with some old people, or visit museums and ancestral temples, and you can always collect some valuable or interesting information. When we arrived at Dayuwan, the local old man introduced us and took us to see the small museum in our village. Of course, the family history of the Yu family is here.

According to genealogical records, before the Ming Dynasty, Yu's ancestors lived in Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province. In the second year of Hongwu, he moved to Ganhu, and the Yu family moved to Wuchang in batches. Later, some people who knew the terrain at home came to Mulan Mountain and found that the green hills and beautiful waters embraced each other, which was very harmonious with the geographical prosperity. So, they moved here with their people and took root, which lasted for more than 600 years.

I don't know whether the terrain is really good or because of the tradition of cultivating research talents. Later, Dayu Bay was a place where talented people came forth in large numbers. There are more than 100 literati recorded in the genealogy of Ming and Qing dynasties, and hundreds of celebrities have emerged from here in modern times. How enviable. I hope we can also feel the atmosphere of this place.

Huizhou ancient buildings passed down for 60 years.

When you walk into Dayuwan, the first thing you see is the big pond at the entrance of the village. Next to it is a big square with a stage and an embroidered building. The buildings in this village extend around from here. Alleys and paths are strewn at random, and waterways crisscross. The layout of each courtyard is orderly. The yard is covered with a small courtyard with various rooms hidden inside. This way of life is basically based on blood, and the closest people live together.

According to Yu's family, this is a great design made by Yu's ancestors according to the principles of topography. Houses are connected, courtyards are connected. When you open it, it's like getting rid of the old and getting new. When closed, it is like a castle, which can resist the attack of bandits. 600 years unchanged. Advanced concept, reasonable function and rigorous layout are amazing.

Not to mention Wuhan, even in Hubei, only one village has this feature, because this is clearly the Huizhou architectural feature of Wuyuan.

In winter, Dayu Bay is bleak, and many old houses are out of date, but rows of houses made of big stones are still full of momentum. The neat horsehead wall, upturned eaves, fine drip line, auspicious lintel painting and square patio all show the orthodox Huizhou characteristics here. Indoor painted beams, carved fences with screens, all beds and chairs are antique and absolutely unique.

There are not many well-preserved old houses in Huizhou. There are only dozens of houses in the village, and there are more than 30 well-preserved ones, all of which have been repaired. In fact, this is not easy, full of the inheritance of other descendants. For Wuhan and Huangpi, it is precious. You can enjoy Wuyuan's rare architectural landscape without leaving home.

Rare traditional juggling.

When wandering around the village, you will find some interesting and rare juggling in some corners from time to time. Unlike some common live stage plays in large scenic spots, they are not so formal and serious, so you can watch them if you want. It's a bit like the Jianghu entertainment circle we saw when we were young, which is in line with the atmosphere of V.

There is a simple puppet juggling counter next to the old house. A beautiful woman is manipulating in the background, and an old man is explaining at the front desk and performing a folk story of a couple fighting tigers.

Like wooden idols and puppets, under the humorous explanation of the old man, they kept doing all kinds of difficult somersaults, mixed with funny dialogues, which made everyone laugh.

There is a slightly larger performance venue next to the big pond in the middle of the village. Several artists are performing traditional acrobatics. Real people fly knives, magic whips hit cigarette butts, and small actors perform 20 somersaults and jujitsu continuously. That wonderful stimulus is staggering. The audience can watch it whenever they want, and then leave. If they feel good, give them more applause or volunteer to reward them, which is a great encouragement for performers.

The most surprising thing is that you can see a rare cockfighting performance here. In the past, it was the most popular game for royalty and wealthy families, and it was also one of the oldest games in China. According to research, it has a history of 2800 years, which was recorded as early as Liezi years ago.

In fact, there is still a lot of knowledge about cockfighting. We are amateurs, just for fun. Two cocks held their heads high, looked at each other angrily, jumped into the air, and even jumped at them until they pushed the other chicken under the ring, even if they won. Only when you have fun can you really feel what is the real "chicken blood".

When we were playing in Dayuwan, we also heard some relatively new allusions. For example, Yu's clan believes that the person who broke the piano is also surnamed Yu and is the ancestor of Yu. The descendants of the national hero Yue Fei once lived in seclusion here, and other people in the family also collected many original paintings of Yue Fei and Zheng Banqiao (unfortunately, they were all destroyed).

We are not historians, so we can't judge whether it is true or not. But in view of the prominent position of "Five Dynasties, One Door, Three Guards and Four Books", I would rather believe it. I hope these legends can add more icing on the cake to this charming ancient village.
