Buddhist activities in Lingyin Temple

Laba Festival

Distributing Laba porridge is a tradition of Lingyin Temple, a thousand-year-old temple in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. On the Laba Festival in 215, Lingyin Temple no longer sent porridge in the temple. Lingyin Temple shifted the focus of porridge outside the temple to places where special groups such as welfare homes and nursing homes are located.

Water and Land Conference

Every year in September of the lunar calendar, Lingyin Temple holds a water and land conference.

The Land and Water Conference is mainly about six sentient beings, namely, water, land and air. With the virtues of all Buddhas, we are willing to make contributions, so that the good roots of those present can grow and last forever. Pray for the dead to live in the pure land and board the Federation as soon as possible. The scale of victorious joining forces is the biggest and most extraordinary large-scale Buddhist activity in the history of Buddhism in China. The land and water conference of Lingyin Temple lasted for seven days, and Buddhist ceremonies such as chanting and repentance were held every day to repay the believers for eliminating disasters.
