Historical evolution

In 1873, the French army attacked Hanoi, and the Vietnamese Nguyen Dynasty asked for help from the Qing army stationed in Caoping and Lang Son, Vietnam, and the Black Flag Army that had secured victory. The Qing army was unwilling to intervene, but Liu Yongfu personally led hundreds of his elite troops to set up an ambush to kill the French commander An Ye, and won the first confrontation with the French invaders. In 1882, the French army captured Hanoi again, and Liu Yongfu once again led his army to the anti-French front line. On May 19, after a fierce battle, Li Weili, the French army commander and commander of the fleet stationed in Cochin China, was killed, and the famous Zhiqiao victory was achieved at home and abroad. The following year, Liu Yongfu's Black Flag Army fought against the French army in Huaide and Danfeng, Vietnam, and won.

Feng Zhaojin

(1845-1894), courtesy name Lisheng. A native of Longchuanchong (now Bangqin Village, Kangxiling Town) on the outskirts of the city. At the age of 14, he learned martial arts from Feng Zicai and later became a servant of Feng. From the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty to the early Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, he followed Feng Zicai out to Zhennanguan to fight three times. He was promoted to deputy general and was rewarded with Hualing. In the ninth year of Guangxu (1883), the Sino-French war broke out. The next year, Feng Zicai came back to recruit troops to resist the French, and appointed Zhaojin as the recruitment committee member. In just 15 days after Zhaojin, 1,200 soldiers were recruited into the Cui army. During the Sino-Japanese War, Zhaojin led the Weiyong Front Battalion to arrive in Zhejiang for defense with the commander Feng Xianghua, and took over the Yinzi Zhongying of the Chu Army. In the autumn of the 20th year of Guangxu (1894), he died of illness in the camp. Aged 49.
