How big is Dalian? Is it as big as Beijing?
Dalian, also known as Bincheng, was formerly known as Darini and Qingniwa. Located at the southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula, on the coast of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, it is backed by the northeast hinterland of China and across the sea from Shandong Peninsula. It is an important economic, trade, port, industrial and tourist city along the eastern coast of China.
Dalian has a long history. As early as 6000 years ago, our ancestors developed Dalian, which was called Dalian in 1899. During the First Opium War and the Second Opium War, British troops invaded Dalian. As the main battlefield of the Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War, Dalian suffered two major war robberies in modern history and became a colony of Russia and Japan for nearly half a century.
