A brief introduction to the story of Guan Yu's loss of Jingzhou

1. After Liu Bei occupied Yizhou, he sent troops to deal with Cao Cao's army and drove them to Chang 'an. Liu Bei sent Guan Yu to attack Fancheng. Just then, the Han River surged. Guan Yu used the flood to drown the seven armies of General Cao Jun, and surrounded Fancheng occupied by Cao Jun.

2. Cao Cao came up with an idea of killing two birds with one stone to solve the siege of Fancheng. He wrote to Sun Quan to persuade Sun Quan to take advantage of the emptiness of Jingzhou's defense and capture Jingzhou, which was taken away by Liu Bei. In this way, when Guan Yu heard that Jingzhou was taken away, he would definitely withdraw his troops and save, and the siege of Fancheng would naturally be lifted. Sun Quan adopted Cao Cao's suggestion and sent general Lv Meng to capture Jingzhou. Lv Meng learned from the spy that there were beacon towers everywhere along the river, and there was no sign of relaxation in the defense.

3. He consulted with Sun Quan, falsely claiming that he was ill and went back to recuperate, so as to paralyze Guan Yu. Sun Quan sent a young Lu Xun to replace Lv Meng, and Lu Xun deliberately sent a letter to Guan Yu, praising him greatly and expressing his great admiration for him.

4. After reading the letter, Guan Yu thought that Lu Xun was a rookie and much easier to deal with than Lv Meng, so he relaxed his vigilance and transferred the troops defending Jingzhou to Fancheng one after another. When Sun Quan received Cao Cao's letter, he readily agreed to capture Jingzhou, so he handed over the task of capturing Jingzhou to general Lu Meng, who went to Lukou. The spies reported that there were beacon towers along the river, and Jingzhou charger was also on guard.

5. If you are depressed, you will lie down and claim that you are ill. Sun Quan sent his son-in-law Lu Xun to see him. Lu Xun knew that Lv Meng was not ill, but advised him to pretend to be ill and resign. Sun Quan called Lv Meng to Jianye for illness, so he attacked Jingzhou and let the young Lu Xun take over. Lu Xun deliberately sent a letter to Guan Yu, who was greatly touted in the letter.

6. Guan Yu relaxed his guard against Jingzhou and transferred his troops to Fancheng. When Sun Quan learned that Jingzhou's defense was empty, he worshipped Lu Meng to attack Jingzhou. Lv Meng disguised warships as merchant ships and elite soldiers as businessmen, fooling the garrison of beacon towers. That night, the elite soldiers in the second watch came ashore, occupied the beacon tower and captured Jingzhou.
