Do I need to apply for a Beijing entry permit when traveling by car to Beijing?

Self-driving trips to Beijing require a Beijing entry permit.

Vehicles from other areas entering Beijing’s Sixth Ring Road (not included) and restricted areas in Chengguan Town, Changping, Huairou, and Yanqing must apply for a Beijing Entry Permit;

Anyone who enters the above-mentioned roads without applying for a Beijing-entry pass or whose validity period has expired will be deemed as an illegal act of "driving in violation of the prohibition sign instructions" and will be punished by the traffic management department of the public security organ in accordance with the law.
