Diary of a trip to Mount Wutai
On the fifth day of the lunar month, enter Longquan Pass to the south and exit the pass to the east. Ten miles to the north, the road gradually extends upwards, the mountain peaks become more and more strange, and the sound of spring water gradually disappears. Soon, the steep road was cut off, and the cliffs and peaks on both sides of the road were high and overlapping, and the wonders gathered together. The trees and rocks in the mountains were so colorful that they intertwined like a beautiful scene, making people no longer feel the trouble of climbing. After walking for five miles in such beautiful scenery, there are two stone passes on the narrow cliff. We walked straight up for another five miles and reached the top of Changcheng Ridge. Looking back at the distant peaks, the tallest ones are lying low at the feet. The nearby peaks on both sides are clustered together. Only there is a gap in the southern mountain. From the gap, it can be seen for hundreds of miles. On the Great Wall Ridge, tall buildings stand majestically, which is Longquan Shangguan. There is an ancient pine in the pass, with a towering trunk and lush branches and leaves. It is a species that reaches the sky and is outstandingly beautiful. To the west of Longquan Shangguan is the border of Wutai County in Shanxi Province. The road going down the ridge is very flat, and the slope is less than one-tenth of the way up the ridge. After walking for thirteen miles, we reached Jiululing, where we reached level ground. There is a stream flowing from the southwest. When it reaches here, it flows northwest along the mountain. I follow suit. Ten miles away, Wutai water flows from the northwest to join, and then flows into the Hutuo River. So I walked northwest along the water for a few miles to Tianchi Village. Walking twenty miles north in Wuzhong, we passed Baitou'an Village and were only twenty miles away from Nantai. Looking around the valley, we couldn't see anything similar to Tiantai Mountain. Go northwest for another two miles and you will see Baiyun Temple on the left side of the road. From the temple, turn south, climb up for four miles, and go around for three miles to reach Thousand Buddha Cave, which is the path to climb Mount Wutai. Then he turned west and walked three miles to stay.
