The light yellow and yellow koi were first produced in 1875. These varieties were highly praised and began to make large sums of money. This resulted in a temporary ban on production, as regional officials wanted to speculate by breeding koi, but as residents in the area had no other livelihoods and pastimes, the ban did not last long. Until the early 20th century, the breeding of ornamental koi was mainly limited to the Shinyo area. In fact, it was not until 1914 that this koi was introduced outside the area. When poor people in the Shinyo area sent 27 koi carp to prosperous Tokyo to participate in a trade fair, these koi carps won the second prize at the fair, and 8 of them were given to Crown Prince Taisho.
