Netizens’ real experiences and experiences traveling to North Korea

Our travel route is a relatively developed main road in North Korea. Although it is a main road, it still looks a bit rundown. There were flowers on the balconies of many residential areas. Later, I observed carefully and found that most of the flowers were fake. I think North Korea wants to use flowers to create a prosperous scene.

However, fake flowers are just fake flowers. Instead of appearing thriving, they have lost their vitality. I heard from friends in the group that North Korean residents are not allowed to dry clothes on their balconies, but can only place flowers. This rule is beyond my comprehension. Our tour guide told us that these scenes are not allowed to be filmed in North Korea.

North Korean soldiers, pedestrians on North Korean roads, North Korean residential areas, North Korean cattle and cars are also not allowed to be photographed. The places where photography is allowed are various tourist attractions. There are many requirements for taking photos in North Korea, but I secretly couldn’t help but take a lot of street photos.

We stayed at the Yanggakdo Hotel. There was no internet, but there was TV. However, there are very few TV stations, and we can only watch four channels, all of which are news programs. One station will play movies, but they are movies from the former Soviet Union. When tourists travel to North Korea, it is difficult to understand the real life of local people.
