2. Baima Temple

Xishan Grottoes 10

brief introduction

Longmen Grottoes is one of the treasures of stone carving art in China. Yi river is divided into two groups of caves: Xishan and Dongshan. It is the most complete and important part of Longmen Grottoes.

There are many famous caves in Xishan Grottoes, such as Qianxi Temple, Wanfo Cave, Fengxian Temple, Guyang Cave and Fangyao Cave. Among them, the most famous are the Rushenafo in Fengxian Temple and the nineteen products in the "Longmen Twenty Products" in Guyangdong.

The north and south sides of Wanfo Cave are neatly carved with 15000 small buddhas. There are 150 prescriptions engraved on both sides of the cave gate, which is the earliest stone carving prescription in China.
