Agricultural situation in Hunan

Hunan is rich in soil types and resources, with a total soil area of 225 million mu (65.438+0.5 million hectares). Zonal soil or vertical soil can be divided into four types: red soil, yellow soil, yellow brown soil and mountain meadow soil. Non-zonal soil and cultivated soil are divided into red calcareous soil, black calcareous soil, purple soil, fluvo-aquic soil, coarse bone soil, stony soil, red clay, swamp soil and paddy soil. Red soil is the largest area, accounting for half of the total soil area in Hunan, and it is the main dry soil in Hunan. Yellow soil accounts for 19.4% of the total soil area in the province, which is suitable for dry farming, Chinese fir, bamboo forest and fruit trees. Yellow brown soil accounts for about 2.4% of the total soil area in the province, which is suitable for the growth of alpine tree species and medicinal materials. Mountain meadow soil is distributed at the top of1200-1500m. Lime soil, purple soil and fluvo-aquic soil account for 6.9%, 6. 1% and 2.5% of the total soil area in the province respectively. Coarse bone soil, stony soil and red clay are all over our province. Paddy soil accounts for 16.5% of the total soil area in our province, and it is the main production base of grain, cotton and oil in our province. The main crops in Hunan Province are rice, wheat, corn, cotton, soybean, rape, potato, watermelon and pepper.
