Collapse Chuzhou Ancient City
The scope of Chuzhou City is roughly as follows: starting from Beiguan in the north, Songcheng Street and Huancheng Road in the south, Xijian Road in the west, and Dongmenkou in the east. urban area. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it was the seat of Dunqiu County, and in the Eastern Wei Dynasty, it was the seat of Nanqiaozhou City. Before the Tang Dynasty, Luocheng of Chuzhou City was adjacent to Guanghui Bridge (also known as Hongji Bridge) to the east and had Linqing Gate; to Gongjiayuan (south of today's Gumalu Street) to the south was Fengtai Gate. The city perimeter is 3 miles and 320 paces. In the early years of Wude in the Tang Dynasty, Zicheng was established in Luocheng (today's Chuzhou No. 3 Middle Heights). The city's perimeter is 1 mile and 160 paces. There is a parapet on it. The gates were built in 620 (the third year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty): the east gate was named Xingchun; the west gate was named Gujiao. From 650 to 655 years (Yonghui period of the Tang Dynasty), it was expanded and built with four gates: Tonghuai Gate in the east, Jijiang Gate in the south, Chaotian Gate in the west, and Wangsi Gate in the north. The perimeter of the city is 7 miles and 258 steps. Each built a moon city. When the Xijian River entered the city, Shangshui Pass was built, with three holes in the arch circle, half city wall and half bridge, and it was pedestrian-friendly. In 1047 (the seventh year of Qingli in the Northern Song Dynasty), Ouyang Xiuzhichu expanded and built Luocheng again.
In the Ming Dynasty, a corridor was added to the south, and the city perimeter was 9 miles and 18 steps. Build a water pass and three arched holes. There are 6 gates: the big east gate is named Huari, the small east gate is named Huanyi, the big west gate is named Yongfeng, the small west gate is named Guande, the south gate is named Jianghuai Baobao, and the north gate is named Gongji. The surrounding moat is more than 200 steps wide and two people deep, with bridges connecting each gate to the river. During the war in the Yuan Dynasty, Yuecheng was destroyed. In 1589 (the seventeenth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty), Yuecheng was rebuilt, with 12 additional huts, 3,549 stacks, and 4 turrets. It was later destroyed by war and earthquakes. It was repaired several times in the Qing Dynasty. In 1858 (the eighth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty), the city was completely destroyed. During the Republic of China, only the brick arches of the north and south gates and the south gate tower were visible. The city wall was intact, and there were no stacks, pavilions or turrets. In 1954, traffic was developed and the brick wall was demolished. The entire road from the south gate to the east gate was built as a road around the city (today's ring road), and the remaining ruins of other sections can still be found along the moat.
The ancient appearance of Shangxiashuiguan is intact. After 2000, the city wall section of Fengle Avenue collapsed, and now no trace of the Chuzhou Ming City Wall can be found.
