What specialties should I buy when traveling to the United States? Folgers and Maxwell instant coffee bar!

I am in the United States and preparing to go back. What gifts should I buy for my colleagues and friends? My friends all know that I am a coffee fan, so of course I have to buy some coffee-related gifts. But what exactly to buy?

Americans like to drink drip coffee, and bringing a few bags of drip coffee powder is the most unique thing. However, not everyone has the equipment to brew coffee powder. If you forcefully give it to them, it will appear that you are not careful enough. After much thought, I finally decided to bring some - Folgers and Maxwell instant coffee.

The main reason is that these two are famous "old" coffee brands in the United States, with a long history and long-term best-selling. They are household names in the United States and are full of American characteristics. And it’s easy to brew, just add water or milk and you can drink it. Even those who don’t drink coffee will probably be curious and try the taste. If you are like me and want to buy some small gifts to distribute back to the company, these are a good choice.

How do they taste? Next, I will choose Folgers original coffee to try. Among the three types of coffee, this one is suspected of being the most “unpalatable”.

First look at the packaging.

I bought it at Wal-Mart. A box costs 88 cents. It contains 7 packets and can make 7 cups of coffee. It is really cheap.

Since you want to drink instant coffee, it is more comfortable to use a paper cup. My previous company had a Nescafe instant coffee machine with a bank of paper cups sitting next to it. When I can't drink freshly ground coffee, I drink this to relieve my addiction. Over time, I have come to think that paper cups are a classic match for instant coffee.

How to brew this bag of coffee? Take a look at its description.

It is recommended to use boiling water or hot milk for brewing. In my opinion, it seems to be saying to me: Stop tasting randomly and add milk quickly.

Very good, this is the self-knowledge of a packet of instant coffee.

But I would be sorry for the audience if I added milk. I still chose hot water.

How does it taste? It can be said that it is not as bad as expected. It has a relatively mild taste, which is good.

Specifically, it is not as bitter as ordinary instant coffee, but a bit sour. Although the sourness is a bit unnatural, like licking dirty fingers of unwashed hands (no derogatory meaning), it is balanced after all. The "bitter" taste is a bit rare. If you compare it with Folgers classic coffee powder, there are some similarities in taste orientation. They both work hard (note the hard work!) to achieve a mild taste of "sour-bitter balance". So as a specialty gift, it is a qualified gift.

Next on the downside: It still has that signature instant coffee flavor—a bit like heated plastic. It's this weird smell that detracts from the coffee drinking experience. Coincidentally, I've also encountered this smell in some decaf coffee. It seems that coffee processed through unnatural means cannot 100% restore the coffee flavor after all. Because of this, these coffees are suitable for giving to friends for a taste, but not for long-term rations.

The other two packs are flavored coffee, which I won’t mention – you don’t have to worry about it being bitter with these flavored coffee drinks.

If you come to the United States for fun, you might consider bringing some instant coffee back. Inexpensive and unique.
