Why is spring outing also called "outing"?

The outing originated from the activities of the ancients to eliminate disasters and diseases, which can be traced back to the "infant" in the Zhou Dynasty. Every year at the turn of spring and summer, there are many diseases. In order to ensure the safety of people and animals, the ancients would get together to take a bath and smoke during the spring festival. During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, people set the outing on Shangsi Festival, that is, the third day of the third lunar month. On this day, people go to the scenic spots with great interest, sit on the floor beside the trickle and eat the spring food and wine they bring. Li Nao once recorded in the Chronicle of the Qin Dynasty: "On the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar, people gave a banquet in Qujiang, and they all drank at the head of the river and walked on the grass, which was called walking green." Therefore, a spring outing is called an outing. The Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival by Zhang Zeduan, a painter in the Song Dynasty, vividly depicts the lively scene of people walking in the Qingming Festival. With the evolution of the times, the custom of "praising" gradually disappeared, but in the bright spring season, going to the countryside to seek fragrance and win has become a favorite leisure activity.

By now, spring outing and outing should have different meanings. Generally speaking, a spring outing is a spring outing, especially an outing organized by students. Now it is generally considered as a grave-sweeping outing in Qingming Festival.
