Where is Agui Temple?

Agui Temple is a cultural tourist attraction.

Agui Temple is a place worth visiting. Agui means cave in Mongolian.

There are 108 steps here, showing a steep slope close to a 90-degree angle. The high road enters the clouds and walks through the void. Standing there, people have a sense of fantasy. This feeling has the meaning of warmth, the feeling of looking up, the beauty, the upward, the kindness, and the state of Yunshui Zen mind.

Agui Temple, located 10 kilometers southeast of Baiyinchagan Town, Chahar Right Back Banner, Ulanqab City, also known as Shanfu Temple, is a Yellow Sect Lama Temple built in the eighth year of Kangxi ( AD 1669). After more than 300 years of sedimentation and the connection of spatial longitude and latitude, people continued to build over a long period of time, forming today's magnificent architectural community.

Agui Temple, the common name of Shanfu Temple, is located on Agui Mountain. Located on the top of a high mountain, there is something about being so high up there, so high above me, that no one else can even feel the cold at that high place. According to local people, the overall community of temples faces south and is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The mountains and hills are well-proportioned and look very spectacular from a distance.

Every summer, the creek at the foot of the mountain flows along the ditch from west to east. The vegetation is luxuriant, the grass is green, and the mountain springs are clear. Birds sing, geese soar, the scenery is pleasant, a natural picture. Climbing the mountain and looking into the distance, you will see connected mountains and criss-crossing ravines, which makes you feel relaxed and happy.

There is indeed a legend that Agui Temple was built on Agui Mountain.

A highly respected lama came from Tibet and traveled around the country to the Chahar Grassland in Chayouhou Banner. During his travels, the lama saw that the grassland here was empty, with warblers flying and grass growing, there were sheep like white clouds, and white clouds as auspicious as Hada. Isn't it a good place to build a temple?

Once, the lama was meditating and chanting sutras with his eyes closed. Suddenly, a green-feathered crow flew from the sky, circled above his head, and took away his crown in time. He opened his eyes and looked at it and said, "Why are you wearing my hat?" After the crow flew a hundred meters, it fell down and put the hat there motionless, so he had to chase after it to get his hat back. When the lama walked to the hat, the crow held the hat in its mouth and flew to a hundred meters and stopped. In this way, one hundred meters and one hundred meters led the lama to Agui Mountain. Throwing the hat on the mountain, the crow flew away.

The lama picked up the crown and put it on, looked around, and exclaimed, this is a "treasure land with hidden dragons and crouching tigers, dragons and beards!" The lama was overjoyed, mobilized the people, and started to work on the stone. From then on, the prototype of the temple was born.

At the beginning of the construction of the temple, there was a legend that is still told by the locals. This story is related to Agui Cave in Agui Mountain.

It is said that at noon one day, the lama was sitting in a cave on the top of the mountain, meditating and chanting sutras. He chants sutras every day for no other reason than to pray for how to raise funds to build the temple. After chanting sutras that day, he saw a cavalry of more than 20 people approaching. Among them, there was a prince who was swaying like a paper man, like the treetops blown by the strong wind, swaying towards the direction of Mount Agui with his horse and man. The lama took a closer look and found that there was a deep cave not far away. A huge white python was hiding at the entrance of the cave and sucking the prince with its bloody mouth. The prince couldn't help but float directly towards the white python's mouth. The lama saw something bad, and in a hurry, he hurriedly chanted sutras to stop the white python. The white python did not eat the prince, but the prince fell into a coma due to fright. The lama came to his aid, chanted sutras, and delivered medicine, and the prince was rescued.

After the prince knew about the lama’s idea of ??building a temple to bring good fortune to the grassland and bring safety to the herdsmen, he donated alms to him and built the Agui Temple. After the temple was built, the white snake was still there. The existence of white pythons will always threaten the lives of herders. He recited a spell and sealed the white python's cave, preventing it from coming out of its cave to harm the grassland. After that, I chanted sutras every day with my back to the sealed cave. I couldn't get out even if I chanted the White Python. The lama built another small temple in this cave.

It is said that since the temple was built, the place has become more and more popular. Nowadays, it is also an important travel destination for people to look back on the past and see the scenic spots of the grassland.

Part of the Agui Temple was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, and restoration and construction work has begun in recent years. In the near future, a complete century-old temple will appear in front of people.

Every year on the 15th day of the fifth lunar month, Aobao sacrifice activities are held here, and the Naadam Conference is held at the same time. The Temple Festival, also called the temple fair, is held on the 15th day of the sixth lunar month. During the temple fair, Buddhist activities were very solemn. Herdsmen from far and near supported the elderly and children, drove cars and rode horses, and it was very lively. The chanting of "Yari Nai Sutra" begins on the 16th day of the sixth lunar month and ends on the second day of the eighth lunar month.

From May 15th to August 3rd, various Buddhist activities are frequent...
