What is there to do in Qibao Old Street?

Qibao is located in the southwestern suburbs of Shanghai. It belongs to Minhang District, with a population of about 140,000 and an area of ??21.3 square kilometers. As the first ancient town in the western suburbs of Shanghai, it has a long cultural history. Qibao was founded in the Eastern Han Dynasty and began to take shape in the Song Dynasty. It flourished during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and has a history of more than 1,000 years. Relying on the two main river channels of Hengli Jing River and Yupu Huitang River, a relatively large-scale commercial town has been formed during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Qibao Old Street Scenic Area was rebuilt at the turn of the century in 2000. The two rivers Puhui and Hengli meet, and three bridges span the Pu River; the sound of oars ripples in the water; the pavilions and pavilions on the bank of the pond are curled with willow silk. The street is divided into north and south, and the lanes run east and west, just like the shape of the street with the word "fei". The street contains famous shops with famous food. The ancient town is centered on Qibao Old Street and covers an area of ??about 92 acres. The old street includes North Square (Bell Tower Square) and Puxi Square. There are also ancient theaters and other cultural activity venues. Qibao Old Street is divided into North and South Streets. The South Street mainly sells specialty snacks, while the North Street mainly sells tourist crafts, antiques, calligraphy and paintings. The old street has become a bustling market integrating "leisure, tourism and shopping". Although the new town of Qibao is a prosperous city, the old streets still continue to retain the legacy of history. You can see two towering ginkgo trees planted in the Southern Song Dynasty, the "Qibao" handwriting inscribed by Zhao Meng of the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty architecture "Jie Yuan Hall", and the four sides of Qibao. Hall", as well as a group of buildings from the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China lined up in the north and south of the town center.

There are 5 main entrances to the scenic spot***. There are ticket booths at each entrance at the north entrance of Minzhu Road, the east entrance of Qingnian Road, the east entrance of Fuqiang Street, the west entrance of Fuqiang Street and the west entrance of Nanxi Street, selling package tickets for several major attractions in Old Street. If you only want to visit certain attractions, you can purchase tickets separately at each attraction. Ticket prices are 5 and 10 yuan respectively.

There are currently 9 main paid attractions in the old street: Cotton Weaving Mill, Old Trade Shop, Old Wine Shop, Cricket Cottage, Pawn Shop, Zhou Miniature Sculpture Hall, Zhang Chongren Memorial Hall, Bolai Bell Tower and Qibao Temple. The 30 yuan joint ticket does not include the Qibao Temple. Visitors who want to pay homage to the Buddha can purchase a separate ticket at the entrance of the temple (currently priced at 5 yuan).

Except for these attractions, all other areas are free to visit.
