In terms of the overall development of transportation in Yunnan Province, Yuxi City should have no problem surpassing the provincial capital Chuncheng to rank first. Yuxi was once the first prefecture-level city in Yunnan Province with first-class highways in every county. The city is also very rich in fiscal revenue. The first six-lane expressway in Yunnan Province, the Kunming-Yuxi Expressway, was mainly invested and constructed by Hongta Group and opened to traffic in April 1999.

Now due to economic reform, local fiscal revenue has been greatly reduced. The development of transportation construction in Yuxi City has not been so fast in the past two years.

On May 28, 2021, Yuxi Chenghua Expressway Investment and Development Co., Ltd. simultaneously issued the Construction Supervision Service Announcement of the Chengjiang-Huaning Expressway and the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Construction Supervision Service Announcement of the Chengjiang-Huaning Expressway, Tender announcement for construction supervision services of housing construction facilities along the Chengjiang-Huaning Expressway. The bidding for construction supervision indicates that the construction of the Chengjiang-Huaning Expressway has entered the comprehensive construction stage.

The Chengjiang-Huaning Expressway is located in Chengjiang City and Huaning County, Yuxi City. The main line adopts the two-way four-lane expressway standard, with a design speed of 100km/h and an integrated road bed width of 26m. ***Set up 2 connecting lines, namely Xincun connecting line and Haikou connecting line.

The total length of the line is 64.012km, with a total of 70 bridges and 12 tunnels, with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of 57.1%; there are 7 interchanges, including the Wenshui River Hub Interchange, Cambrian Interchange, Taiyangshan Interconnect, Haikou Town Interconnect, Qinglong Interconnect, Huaning North Interconnect and Huaning Composite Hub Interconnect. The Xincun connection line is 2.605km and adopts the first-class highway standard; the Haikou connection line is 3.722km and adopts the second-class road standard. The entire section uses asphalt concrete pavement and has 2 service areas.

The estimated total investment amount is approximately 12.857 billion yuan.

Chengjiang City is directly under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province and managed by Yuxi City. It is located in the southeast of Kunming City, 52 kilometers away from Kunming East Railway Station and 93 kilometers away from Hongta District of Yuxi City. It is the first batch of provincial-level all-region tourism in Yunnan Demonstration Area. In July 2020, the National Patriotic Association confirmed Chengjiang City as a national health county in 2019.
