Where is the best place to travel during the Spring Festival in China?

Some cave dwellings are primitive and simple ancient dwellings on the Loess Plateau. They are a reflection of the cave-dwelling life of our ancestors. There are many remains in the mountains and ravines on both sides of the Yellow River in Lanzhou. The biggest feature of cave dwellings is that they are warm in winter and cool in summer. There are roughly three types of cave dwellings in Lanzhou: earth kilns, hoop kilns and brick hoop kilns. Earth kilns are the most common. Most of them choose cliffs with thick soil and hard soil. They first dig out the cliff face, then excavate a large semicircular cave dwelling. Finally, they build a facade wall, install doors and windows, set up a stove and a kang, and then people can live in it. Some houses have three caves on the same facade connected with each other to expand the usable area, and some even have small partial kilns dug inside to store grain or sundries. Earthen kilns are low-cost and can be built as long as there is labor. Therefore, they were the first choice for poor people who could not afford to build houses in the past.
