Lakeside is a natural asphalt lake, located in Labia, southwest of Trinidad. There is not a drop of water in this lake, but natural asphalt, so people call it asphalt lake. Lakeside is considered as a tourist attraction, attracting about 20,000 tourists every year.

It is compared to a "bad parking lot" and called "the ugliest tourist attraction in the Caribbean".

The lake is dark and shiny, just like a huge and exquisite black lacquer basin embedded in the earth. The asphalt on the lake is flat and hard. You can not only walk, but also ride a bike. The middle of the lake is a very soft place, and asphalt keeps pouring out. Therefore, it is known as the "mother of asphalt lake" and one of the largest asphalt producing areas in the world. The lake covers an area of 0.4 square kilometers, and the asphalt content reaches120,000 tons. The asphalt produced is of good quality and is known as "Wujin".

The bottom of Lake Beach is unfathomable. People use tools to explore asphalt lake. At the depth of 90- 100 meters in the middle of the lake, the core is still asphalt. Therefore, the depth of the lake cannot be determined at present. According to some geologists' estimation, if 100 tons of asphalt is mined every day, the asphalt in the lake will not be mined in another 200 years.
