Liang Ning of Hupan University: The group of people with high achievements all have the same talent

Before the article officially begins, it is necessary to introduce Liang Ning.

Liang Ning, who once served in the President’s Office of Lenovo Group, is one of the earliest young backbones of Lenovo.

Later served as Vice President of CNET Group, and in 2004 represented CNETChina in negotiating the acquisition of Hummingbird.

In 2008, with investment from Lei Jun, he started his own business, Traveler.com. Lei Jun said: "Liang Ning is a talented woman from our (Zhongguan) Village, with profound thoughts and strong insight."

In 2011, Traveler.com was acquired by Tencent, and Tencent acquired her by the way. Wu Xiaoguang, the former CEO of Tencent e-commerce, said: "Liang Ning has a good sense of control over the product."

In 2014, Tencent's strategic adjustment, the business Liang Ning was responsible for was given to the same company by Tencent. Cheng Travel and Liang Ning resigned from Tencent.

Liang Ning is currently the academic director of the product module of Hupan University of Alibaba Group and a consultant to Baidu Group. Zeng Ming said: "Liang Ning has a very comprehensive vertical experience and has a well-established understanding of products."

Liang Ning, together with Lei Jun of Xiaomi, Li Xueling of YY, Cai Wensheng of Meitu, and Alibaba Yu Yongfu, Wang Xing of Meituan, Abei of Douban and many other big names have been friends for more than ten years.

I went to BAT professionally, and I have connections with great people in the circle. In the Internet world, Liang Ning is a very magical existence, but many newcomers to the Internet still don’t know about her.

So I have always felt that an outstanding person like her should be more high-profile so that she can influence more young people, and it is an absolutely positive influence.

But often the more awesome the person, the more low-key they are. I looked through her public account @李宁-谢水录 and counted. From May 30, 2014 to the present, she has only pushed 42 articles, which is not as much as many so-called KOLs in one month. Fortunately, Her content is excellent. Throughout 2017, she only pushed 4 articles, and two of them hit the Moments of Internet users.

This article can be regarded as my notes and thoughts after reading Liang Ning’s public account and listening to her class "Liang Ning·30 Lectures on Product Thinking". Hope it inspires you.

01 The most important talent in life is happiness

Liang Ning said in an article that after leaving Tencent in 2014, he had a lot of time, so he started studying horoscopes again , met a lot of people, read their horoscopes, and listened to their stories. Then I discovered that everyone's destiny is clearly visible.

In that article, Liang Ning interpreted a person's fate by looking at his happiness.

When God arranges a person's destiny, or gives a person a mission, he actually gives him a hobby, a real liking, something called "addiction".

People cannot refuse their true feelings. No matter which track reality forces him into, he will always break away from the heavy pressure little by little, leaving a little space to allow himself to connect to the real world. In happiness. This thing that makes a person happy is the handle of a person's destiny.

This is what Liang Ning said, the most important talent in life is happiness.

In the product class, Liang Ning explained the same point of view from another angle.

You may feel uncomfortable after practicing on PPT three times, but Steve Jobs practiced on PPT 100 times for the Apple conference and still enjoyed it; you may feel unhappy when cleaning, but some people clean three times a day without getting tired of it.

For the same thing, some people are unhappy, while others are happy and never tire of it.

So, find that thing that makes you continue to do it tirelessly. What you do tirelessly is where your talent lies.

Being beautiful, physically coordinated, highly intelligent, etc., these are your explicit talents. What's more important is your hidden talent: what makes you happy.

You will be happy with something, something that will continue to give you a sense of satisfaction, and you can spend time here without getting tired of it.

No one can deny their true happiness. You can’t help but spend time on the things you love, and without even realizing it, you’re spending 10,000 hours there. Over time, you will become different.

Liang Ning explained very clearly a saying that we often talk about: do what you like.

I would also like to add, believe in the power of belief. Many people actually know where their happiness lies, but they dare not invest and pursue it all in because they do not fully believe and do not dare to believe in the power of belief.

02? Pain is a talent more important than happiness

Liang Ning believes that happiness is a talent, but among the people with the highest achievements, there is another person who is more important than happiness. An important talent - pain.

Some people can’t stand the pain of not being surrounded by others;

Some people can’t stand the pain of not being the center of attention;

Some people can’t stand the pain of having someone in front of them. The pain of being on top of him;

Someone can’t stand the pain of sitting on the chair I want but not me

Climbing upwards, being strict with yourself, thinking day and night, and exhausting your energy. Living like this day after day is really not a happy day.

What drives them is pain. The pain was so great that they couldn't stop.

What is an ordinary person?

It’s just that the happiness is not that strong, and the pain is not that great. Therefore, their lives will run relatively smoothly on the established track, instead of being torn apart by happiness and pain, and endless tossing.

What does it mean to be a skilled person?

That is, when he is concentrating on doing something, he takes the trouble and enjoys it. Completely ignore other people's surprise or incomprehension.

What is an outstanding person?

That is, if he can't get what he wants, he will suffer like a thousand ants eating his heart. He can sacrifice anything, he must get what he wants.

When he is no longer in pain, maybe he has transcended, maybe he has become mediocre. For those who have great pain, joy is short-lived and cheap.

Liang Ning said that she had seen a biopic in Hong Kong about a boy. Watching Elvis Presley’s performance, she was filled with envy and sadness: Why can he do this? Why can’t I be like him? Is he like this? ...

This boy would become John Lennon.

I have written about Lei Jun before, and Lei Jun’s experience also illustrates very well that great pain drives a person to make great achievements.

Lei Jun joined Kingsoft after graduating from college at the age of 23. He worked there for 16 years, rising from programmer to CEO and leading Kingsoft to go public. I achieved financial freedom and retired in my thirties.

This can be said to be the achievement that many people dream of, but Lei Jun was in extreme pain at that time. Because Lei Jun’s expectation for his life is not a small success, but a big success. If you don't succeed, it will be very painful.

When he was 18 years old, he watched "Silicon Valley Fire" and learned about the entrepreneurial stories of Silicon Valley heroes such as Steve Jobs. He was so excited that he stayed awake for several nights and walked around in circles on the school playground. , and then established a vague goal: I must do some earth-shattering things in the future, and I must be a great person.

Jinshan’s career is obviously not earth-shattering, and it cannot support his life ambitions.

Therefore, Lei Jun was in pain after retiring from Jinshan. He couldn't stand other big guys at the same time who were ahead of him and stronger than him.

It was this kind of pain that drove Lei Jun to overcome the fear of "if I fail to start a business again, I will be ruined" in 2010, he started over and founded Xiaomi.

03 A person’s spiritual resources and spiritual structure determine the direction of that person’s life

In an article, Liang Ning compared the personalities of two single men who have been in charge of the country for more than 40 years. Strong women, Elizabeth of England and Empress Dowager Cixi of China.

Elizabeth led Britain to become one of the most powerful countries in Europe, built naval capabilities, and established colonies in North America.

Empress Dowager Cixi used her skills and wisdom throughout her life to maintain the country's isolation and ideological confinement.

The first difference between the two people is the difference in spiritual resources.

Elizabeth’s childhood teacher was the famous British Renaissance humanist Roger Askham. Elizabeth knew six languages, and her spiritual resources included Aristotle, Caesar, and Columbus. ..

Cixi’s spiritual resources are "Zi Zhi Tong Jian" and plays such as "Picking a Pulley" and "Silang Visits His Mother"...

Spiritual resources will form a person’s mental structure. The mental structure will dominate a person's lifelong likes, dislikes and shame, his wishes, dreams and fears, thus affecting all of the person's subsequent decisions.

After reading Liang Ning, my understanding is:

A person’s spiritual resources determine a person’s spiritual structure, and a person’s spiritual structure will affect a person’s entire life Choices and decisions, and these choices and decisions constitute a person's life.

After resigning from Tencent in 2014, Liang Ning also reviewed his eight years of experience from starting a business to being acquired by Tencent and then leaving Tencent.

She believed that her decision to start a business was a foolish decision. Making a decision in one day and throwing it away for six years is too rash and an opportunity. Note:

We start from a newcomer in this society and win first with ability and energy. Then, lose in vision and decision-making ability.

We start to decide which company to join, which person to marry, and then decide which stock to buy at which price and how big a position. Then decide what kind of business to start and how to end it.

In the beginning, everyone’s qualities and abilities were similar. After making decisions again and again, everyone’s paths, vision, resources, and energy varied greatly.

In "Norwegian Wood", Watanabe asked Nagazawa why he was so troubled. Nagaze said: "I have this ability, and there are always opportunities around me, why not give it a try."

Decisions without vision support are all opportunistic.

Therefore, when judging a person, in addition to his apparent ability and energy, you should also pay attention to his vision. Their vision guides their decisions and that is the path for his future.

04 Do you know your underlying operating system?

Finally, let’s talk about one more word, the underlying operating system.

When Liang Ning talks about products, she first talks about emotions. She believes that emotions are a person’s underlying operating system:

If you imagine a person as a mobile phone, emotions are the underlying operating system. , some people have iOS, some have Android, and everyone’s version number is different.

The knowledge and skills you learn are all installed on the underlying operating system, one by one.

Some people say: "I have learned a lot of principles, but I still can't live this life well."

In fact, the things we learn the day after tomorrow are all rational, and rationality pulls people back. power. But what drives a person is actually his inner feelings and emotions, which are his underlying operating system.

We all have moments when our emotions are impulsive. You fall in love, you are controlled by anger and fear, it’s like the phone system crashed and all the apps are useless.

All your acquired knowledge, skills, and rationality cannot convince you. The invocation of knowledge requires time and thinking, but emotions are experienced in a moment.

Pleasure, displeasure, anger, and fear are all emotions and they all belong to your operating system.

For example, if a person continuously invests 10,000 hours in one place and becomes a genius, it is because of the support of pleasure; if a person is conscientious, with this thing as the core, and completely selfless, many times he is Because of fear; and if a young man has neither pleasure nor fear in his work, you can basically judge that he will not achieve anything in this matter.

Sometimes you are not missing an APP, but your operating system can only support you so far.

Let’s go back and look at the first three modules of the article and experience the underlying operating system. You will understand that a person’s happiness, pain, spiritual resources, and spiritual structure all determine the fate of a person’s life. the underlying operating system.

Each of us needs to understand more deeply, layer by layer, what is our own underlying operating system:

What can give me continuous happiness, make me happy, and never tire of it? ?

What makes me suffer? What I can’t do will cause me pain, what I can’t get will cause me pain, what I can’t achieve will cause me pain?

What are my spiritual resources and what is my spiritual structure?

Only when you have a deep understanding of your underlying operating system can you better control your life.

Finally, let’s take the example of Lei Jun.

Lei Jun understood his happiness and pain very early, and knew what he wanted to be very early. These supported his every decision and the direction of his life.

In 1998, Kingsoft paid Lei Jun 200,000 yuan. Lei Jun threw all of it into the stock market, and after a while, it became 600,000.

One day, Lei Jun and Liang Ning said: "I sold all the stocks. I made 400,000 in a few months. It is too easy to make money in stocks, which will distract people. I still have to concentrate. Regarding Jinshan.”

Lei Jun donated all the money to his alma mater, Wuhan University, becoming the first student from his school to return to school and donate money less than 10 years after graduation. That year, his monthly salary was 10,000 yuan, and he donated almost all of his cash to his alma mater.

In 2004, Joyo joined Amazon. Lei Jun became a multimillionaire. In Lei Jun's own words, when he got money, he didn't change his house or car. The first thing he did was to invest the money in a few brothers he liked.

In 2007, Lei Jun led Kingsoft to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Xiaomi was founded by Lei Jun in 2010.
