Did you do everything right when you went to Jiuhua Mountain to worship Buddha? The route and process of worshiping Buddha are all here.
People all over the world say that the Buddha in Jiuhua Mountain is the most efficacious. After autumn, I took my mother up the mountain to worship the Buddha. I saw the faithful men and women who came to worship, devoutly kneeling down to worship each big Buddha. Usually they were vulgar men or local rich and nobles, but in front of the Buddha, which was more than ten meters high, they all turned down and whispered, gentle and respectful. Jian, even if you are an "atheist" who believes in science, you will feel that there is a god at this time. Jiuhua Mountain may be the most peaceful scenic spot I have ever seen.
Believers who come to worship Buddha have special routes and procedures for offering incense and worshiping Buddha. Generally, there are two: one is from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, which means rising higher step by step. They all start from Gion Temple. Gion Temple is the first temple into the mountain. It is the first of the four major temple jungles in Jiuhua Mountain. The so-called jungle means that there are many monks and strong incense.
The other is to offer three sticks of incense before going to other key temples. The first time I paid homage to Huacheng Temple, where the main jungle of Jiuhua Mountain is located. The second stick of incense is used to worship Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva’s physical body in the physical body palace. If you want to petition, this is the best choice. It is said that if your wish comes true, you must come back the next year to fulfill it. The Third Pillar Incense Centenary Palace is home to the earliest physical Bodhisattva - Monk Wuxia. In the holy land of Buddhism, there is no way to worship every Bodhisattva. Walking around the Bodhisattva is considered worshiping the Bodhisattva. It takes about three or four hours to complete the Jiuhua Mountain Incense Offering Tour.
How to petition? Remember to tell the Buddha your name, where you live, what you ask for, and where you can repay your wish after it is fulfilled. Most believers just kowtow and make wishes when they arrive at the main hall. They really don’t know that Bodhisattvas only respond to their requests. They don’t know which great god they are praying for, so how can they respond? The rule is: first offer incense, then kneel down, and after kneeling, put your hands together. , go around the body pagoda of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva three times clockwise and make a wish. When bowing, the palms should be upward, and when the palms are downward, it is to worship ancestors.
There is also a formal etiquette for offering incense. Stand outside the temple to offer incense, face the Buddha and bow three times, then bow clockwise in all directions. After praying, insert the incense into the incense burner with your left hand. Burning high-quality incense is not allowed in Jiuhua Mountain. Holding a large amount of incense like this uncle is generally not recommended. Key temples provide three sticks of incense for free, but more is useless.
The oldest temple on the mountain is Huacheng Temple. The glory of the founder temple may only be witnessed by the stone inscriptions of the past generations. One of them is an inscription by Li Deyu, a famous prime minister in the Tang Dynasty. He was ostracized by the party and demoted. , often came to the temple to study, which promoted the local culture of good literature.
Everyone must have heard about the physical Bodhisattvas in Jiuhua Mountain. It is said that when eminent monks reach a certain level of practice, their bodies will not decay after they pass away and sit down, and they will be coated with gold powder and worshiped by their disciples. This is also called the whole body relic. Fortunately, I found one, and I had to climb 99 steps to the Moon Body Hall to get a glimpse of its true appearance.
Let me mention a little episode here. In ancient times, not all bodies were real. In the Qing Dynasty, the essayist Yuan Mei wrote a story. It is probably that the body of Amitayus Buddha in Yongzhou, Guangxi was possessed by a group of monks who were obsessed with profit. Those who caused death and made flesh to attract incense. Jiuhua Mountain is also mentioned in the story, saying that all the physical bodies in Jiuhua Mountain have passed away at the end of their lives.
Dripping Water Guanyin Bodhisattva, first worship the Dripping Water Guanyin to pray for your son and peace, then go to the main hall to worship the physical body of Guanyin, saying that Guanyin passed away here.
The 33-story Ksitigarbha Buddha stands majestically among the mountains, becoming the core landmark of Jiuhua Mountain. I never understood why the Buddha was built so tall. Among all religions, Buddhism likes to build large statues the most. Since I visited Yungang Grottoes and other Buddhist statues, I can understand a little bit. Look at those majestic Buddhas, squinting their eyes, looking down at all living beings. The incense smoke has a strong sense of majesty and mystery. When you can't help but look up at it, and feel the awe of being willing to be taught, you will feel that this is the Buddha's promise. Some attitude.
There are 99 temples in Jiuhua Mountain, with more than 6,000 Buddha statues and gods, more than 100 of which are more than two meters high. Almost every time you step into a key temple, you have to look up. But in the hearts of people who believe in Buddhism, there is a Buddha in their hearts, even if they are not high.
How to choose accommodation in Jiuhua Mountain
Many people are used to living on the mountain, close to the temples, but in fact, they live in the visitor center at the foot of the mountain and transfer to the flower terrace or take the luggage for the high-speed train. More convenient. The accommodation center at the foot of the mountain is Ke Village. Relying on so many resources, the locals have converted into family hotels. The "Jianju Jiaju" B&B we stayed in is cheap and well-equipped. It is no less than a three-star hotel. The key is the boss. Very good. They help you plan your route and take you to the station for free. There are also high-end hotels such as Hanyue Tower, where prosperity and frugality depend on people.
Accommodation on the mountain is generally 200-600 more expensive than at the foot of the mountain. The more popular ones such as Donglixia Youran Shanju, Banshan Meisu, and Julong all cost more than 800 yuan.
Jiuhuashan must-eat delicacies: stinky mandarin fish, stone fungus, dried bamboo shoots and roasted pork
Jiuhuashan’s three major specialties, Hui Caitou brand stinky mandarin fish smells stinky and is delicious when eaten , it’s appetizing to go with wine and dinner. The restaurants down the mountain are 20 yuan cheaper than those up the mountain. Shanxia Tongue Jiuhua Restaurant 138 yuan. I feel that the taste is almost the same. Whichever restaurant has the most people will eat it, that’s right. The stone pot fish is also good, but the fish bones are too dense and it is not enjoyable to eat. Stone fungus is a low-grade plant similar to fungus that can strengthen the body. I feel that the high price is due to speculation, and the taste is nothing special. There is also a specialty Polygonatum, which can be soaked in water and eaten like barley tea. Roasted Pork with Dried Bamboo Shoots is a relatively common dish. It is listed here simply because it is the dish most commonly eaten by northerners when they go to the south.

The staff at the visitor center are very enthusiastic. After all, it is a five-star scenic spot, and you can get satisfactory answers without having to do a guide in advance.
