The origin of Chengdu

Rongcheng is named after the hibiscus flowers that were planted there in ancient times.

During the Five Dynasties, Mrs. Huarui, the concubine of Meng Xu, Lord of Shu, preferred hibiscus flowers, so Meng Xu ordered the people to plant hibiscus trees all over the city walls. When the flowers bloomed, Chengdu "forty miles is a beautiful show." , so Chengdu is also called Furong City, or "Rong" for short. Also known as Rongcheng and Jincheng, Sichuan Province governs prefecture-level cities, provincial capitals, sub-provincial cities, megacities, national central cities, and the world's gourmet capital.

It has a long and unique historical origin and extremely profound cultural accumulation. As early as about 4500 to 3700 years ago, a series of settlement centers of ancient Shu ancestors, known as the "Baodun Culture" in later generations, had appeared in the Chengdu Plain. City walls have been built in these settlement centers, and places for worship and gatherings have been built. Based on the large number of historical relics unearthed at the "Jinsha Site", it can be basically inferred that from the late Yin Shang Dynasty to the early Western Zhou Dynasty, the Chengdu area had become the central city of the ancient Shu Kingdom.
