What kind of county is Jishishan in Gansu?

Jishishan in Gansu is a county with a long history.

Jishishan is located in Gansu Province, where the Yellow River meets the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. More than 5,000 years ago, it witnessed the prosperity of Majiayao culture, and the discovery of painted pottery jars also made Jishishan a national treasure.

Historically, Jishishan was an important area in many dynasties. In 964 BC, Zhou Muwang came to Jishishan to control water, established Linjin Ferry, laughed with the Queen Mother of the West, and established friendly relations with the central and western regions. On the Jishi Mountain, Qiang, Xianbei, Tuguhun, Tubo, Xixia, Mongolia and other western nationalities fought against the central dynasty.

Through historical changes, we can see that Jishishan was a battleground for military strategists in ancient times. Many dynasties set up county towns or military and political institutions here, such as Linjin County, LAM Raymond County, Jishi Shijun and Jishi Mansion. Jishishan has also become the hub of the South Road of the Silk Road. In the Ming Dynasty, Jishishan became an important trade center of tea-horse trade, attracting a large number of businessmen and travelers. In order to resist Tubo, the Ming government built the Wang Yu Temple and the Twenty-four Pass in Jishishan.
