Panlongcheng National Archaeological Site Park Travel Guide

Panlongcheng National Archaeological Site Park is a place to admire history and ancient culture. Panlongcheng was one of the key cities of the Yin and Shang civilization more than 3,000 years ago. Its historical research value is very important. Here are the following Let’s share the travel guide to Panlongcheng National Archaeological Site Park.

Panlongcheng National Archaeological Site Park has been officially included in the third batch of national archaeological site parks. Take a look at this place that Wuhan people are looking forward to.

Address: Panlong City Site on the Bank of Panlong Lake in Huangpi District, Wuhan City

This is the site of the early Shang Dynasty with the clearest layout and richest known ruins in the Yangtze River Basin. Park The square at the entrance is extremely wide. Passing through this mud-yellow antique city wall, we are one step closer to Panlong Ancient City, which is more than 3,000 years old.

When you are in the park, you can really see as far as you can see. It is really huge! It takes more than ten or twenty minutes to walk from the gate to the Miyagi ruins.

Panorama aerial view of the park

Panlongcheng National Archaeological Site Park covers an area of ??4.22 square kilometers and will be implemented in three phases according to the plan. So although it is big, the goal is very clear, and it is basically impossible to get lost.

Follow the road signs in the park to reach the city site.

In 1954, the Panlongcheng ruins were discovered. In 1988, it was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit. In 2001, it was rated as one of the 100 major archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century.

Here, the editor saw the true appearance of ancient society revealed by archaeologists.

The territory of the Shang Dynasty was north of the Yangtze River. After research by experts, there is a theory that Panlong City was once a military stronghold for the Shang Dynasty's southward expansion. The ruins include the palace area, the four city walls in the southeast and northwest, the Lijiazui tomb area, and the North City Moat.

Before entering the palace area, what you saw was the northern moat. After thousands of years of vicissitudes, the moat no longer exists, so the park uses pebbles as signs to make it easier for everyone to see the area where the river is located.

Entering the city along the north gate, you can see the palace area. The palace area now presented is a restored display of the ruins, which has been raised to an appropriate height to ensure that no damage is caused to the historical ruins.

The palace is divided into Palace No. 1 and Palace No. 2. The palace in the front is used for political discussions, and the palace in the back is used for sleeping. This also created the earliest palace layout in China with the front dynasty and the back sleeping.

It seems that it does not occupy a large area now, but it was already a very powerful building more than 3,000 years ago.

There are several archaeological exploration sites preserved next to the palace, which enhances the impression of the archaeological site. I feel that Bianbian can also transform into an assistant to the archaeological expert

It is across the lake from the palace area. It is the Lijiazui tomb area. Based on the shape, specifications and grave goods of the tomb, archaeologists speculate that Tomb No. 2 in the tomb area is the tomb of the supreme leader of Panlong City.

After professional detection by archaeologists, it was discovered that there are still many precious historical relics waiting to be excavated underground. Currently, archaeological excavation work at the Panlongcheng site is still in progress.

The route to visit the Panlong City ruins can be divided into internal and external routes. You can walk around the palace and back again to learn about the relevant history and culture. On the outside, you can walk around the city wall and enjoy the reeds, birds and river water, which is quite leisurely.

The two most important areas of Panlongcheng National Archaeological Site Park, apart from the ruins area, are the museum. The new museum is under renovation and has not yet opened. But in the temporary exhibition hall, the editor saw many precious ancient relics.

Lijiazui Tomb No. 2

Lijiazui Tomb No. 2, reduced in a 3:1 ratio, has three floors from the outside to the middle. The owner of the tomb is buried in the middle. There are dogs as companions in the waist pit, and there are three skeletons of martyrs on the outside.

Palace restoration plan

A restoration plan of the palace through research by ancient architects.

The cultural relics on display here include bronze, jade and pottery. Due to the limited conditions and security facilities of the temporary exhibition hall, slight technical differences may cause damage to historical relics, so the bronze and jade exhibits are all one-to-one replicas, and the originals have been preserved until the new museum is completed. , the authentic works will be displayed in them.

All the pottery in the temporary exhibition hall are genuine. After thousands of years of erosion, the pottery is no longer complete. The patterns on the surface of the pottery are traces of repairs by archaeological experts. There are also some stone tools used by ancient people for production and living.

In 2018, the new museum will be presented to everyone. I will use more high-tech methods to present precious historical relics and archaeological knowledge, and I suddenly feel so excited
