Brief introduction of Shaoxing Shen Yuan

Shenyuan is a national 5A scenic spot, located in Chunbolong, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City. This is a famous garden in the Song Dynasty. Shen Yuan has a history of more than 800 years. Shenyuan Garden, also known as "Shenyuan Garden", is the private garden of a wealthy businessman surnamed Shen in the Southern Song Dynasty. It was built in the Song Dynasty. When it was first built, it had a large area of 70 acres.

There are pavilions, bridges, flowing water, trees and Jiangnan scenery in the park. Shenyuan is a national 5A scenic spot. It is the only preserved Song Dynasty garden among many classical gardens in Shaoxing.

Shenyuan Garden is divided into three parts: historical area, East Garden and South Garden. There are Guhe Pavilion, Banbi Pavilion, Shuanggui Hall, Banrong Building, Songjing, Shepu, Meiwenmen, Maofeng Monument, Qintai and Guangzhai. 1963 was identified as a cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang province.

After the Song Dynasty, the park was gradually abandoned, leaving only the south corner. 1984, reconstructed according to the map handed down from ancient times by Shen Yuan, with a total area of 7,865 square meters. 1994, the Zhejiang provincial government restored the garden site to 18.5 mu, and the buildings such as Guhe Pavilion, Banbi Pavilion, Songjing Pavilion, Hanbi Pavilion, Xianyun Pavilion and Fangwengqiao were all in the French style of Song Dynasty.

Among them, the gourd pond, well and earth mountain in the garden are all primitive artifacts of the Song Dynasty. On the basis of freestyle layout, the scenery of each courtyard "converges" inward, that is, all buildings in the courtyard face the water.
