How to go through quarantine procedures for pets leaving the country?
With the development of foreign trade and international communication, more and more pet owners take their beloved "kittens" and "puppies" to travel or settle abroad. Due to the different quarantine requirements for imported pets in different countries around the world and the lack of practical experience in taking pets abroad, many pet owners are "at a loss" about how to handle quarantine procedures for their pets. Here, as a knowledge popularization, briefly introduce the quarantine requirements for pets in various countries and the quarantine procedures for pets leaving China as follows: Quarantine requirements for importing countries At present, most countries are increasingly strict with the quarantine of pets entering China. Passengers must take the initiative to declare their pets to the quarantine department of the country of entry, and submit the "official quarantine certificate" and "vaccination certificate" of the country of origin of the pets. After strict quarantine on site, pets will be quarantined 1 to 6 months. Some countries implement quarantine licensing system for pets entering the country, and also require pets to have electronic identification codes or implanted chip identification codes. The most stringent countries and regions are Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and the European Union. In addition to the basic certificate, vaccination certificate and chip, it is also necessary to test the rabies antibody level of pet blood samples, and the test report will be issued by an accredited laboratory. China's quarantine procedures for pets leaving the country When passengers want to take their pets abroad, they must report them to the entry-exit inspection and quarantine department in advance, and cooperate with animal quarantine personnel to do a good job in clinical quarantine of pets. The entry-exit inspection and quarantine department shall issue the Animal Health Certificate if it passes the quarantine inspection. The main materials to be submitted are: Animal Health Inspection Report and Rabies Vaccination Certificate issued by the animal epidemic prevention department at or above the district level or the pet hospital designated by the local entry-exit inspection and quarantine department. If the importing country has special requirements for the "Animal Hygiene Certificate", such as South Korea's requirement that the rabies antibody level of pets should not be lower than 0.5iu/ml, and the antibody value should be indicated on the certificate, it is also necessary to submit the "Rabies Antibody Level Test Report" issued by the laboratory recognized by the importing country. Relevant tips and suggestions: Before taking imported pets out of the country (area), passengers should take the initiative to understand the quarantine requirements, certificate requirements and clinical quarantine time limit. The items of health examination for outbound pets include: clinical examination of pets (heart, lungs, facial features, skin, appearance, etc. ), routine examination of feces and blood, quarantine items specially required by foreign countries, elimination of parasites inside and outside the body, chip implantation, vaccine injection, serum collection and production, etc. Pet vaccination records, pest control records, pet clinical examination reports and other related records are important basis for entry-exit inspection and quarantine departments to issue certificates, and pet owners should properly keep relevant records. The validity period of pet vaccination is generally recognized as one year. Because there are differences among pets, the average validity period of the vaccine is actually about 8 months. For the sake of your pet's health, it is recommended to inject the vaccine once every six months. Some countries have requirements for testing antibody levels, requiring testing in designated laboratories, and it will take more than 180 days to enter the country after passing the test. Pet owners are advised to know the requirements of importing countries (regions) in advance and make preparations for leaving the country in advance. Animal Health Certificate is valid within 14 days from the date of issuance. (Wang Yunyun Shu) China Guomen Times Author: Shu
