Zengcheng has a long history. Zengcheng Jianxian County was established in the sixth year of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 20 1), which belongs to Nanhai County and has a history of 1800 years. Zengcheng is a beautiful name, taken from the ancient Kunlun myth in China. Myths and legends say that Zengcheng has nine weights on Kunlun Mountain, which means that Zengcheng is a fairy city with nine weights on the upper floor of Kunlun Mountain, so the county name is "Zengcheng".

Zengcheng has a long history of ancient culture. In history, people's literary and artistic creations are rich and colorful, and many officials and scholars have left immortal chapters. In the 14th year of Tang Yuanhe (8 19), Han Yu, a writer, was demoted to the secretariat of Chaozhou for admonishing Buddhist bones. When passing through Zengcheng, he wrote two poems, Su Kou's Gift to Grandnephew, which have been passed down to this day. Among the citizens, the works of Cheng, a scholar in the Northern Song Dynasty, have been handed down from generation to generation. Choi Woo-shik, a scholar, strategist and politician in the Southern Song Dynasty, is famous for his poems and is known as the "ancestor of Cantonese Ci", and he is the author of The Complete Works of Jupo. The Records of the South China Sea, written by Chen Dazhen, a scholar in the Song Dynasty, in the eighth year of Yuan Dade (1304), is the earliest existing record book in Guangdong. In the seventh year of Qianlong (127 1), Bruce Lee, a scholar, wrote a poem in the stone wall of Baihualin, which is the only original poem in Song Dynasty found so far.
