In the 1920s and 1930s, Taiping Town had become a very famous business hub in Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.

In 2006, with the approval of the relevant provincial departments, the renovation of the monument was completed, including the construction of supporting facilities for the memorial site of 1,800 square meters, the reconstruction and expansion of the memorial hall of 2,000 square meters, the construction of a parking lot of 3,000 square meters, and the maintenance and improvement of Red Army Street, 3 kilometers The construction of walking trails, the construction of 4 tourist public toilets, the addition of 11 scattered Red Army round sculptures and reliefs in the square outside the memorial hall and other construction contents.

In 2007, it was approved by the Ministry of Construction as a national historical and cultural town and one of the eight famous towns in Sichuan Province.

In 2009, the second phase of the Red Army’s Long March Fourth Crossing of Chishui Taiping Ferry Memorial Site project was implemented. The important nodes of the "Red Army Confidential Room", "Red Army General Political Department", "General Headquarters", "Red Army Hospital", "Red Army Bank" and 28,000 square meters of ancient buildings will be repaired and protected and historical scenes restored.

In April 2011, Taiping Ancient Town was rated as one of the “Top Ten Most Suitable Streets for Business” in Sichuan Province.

In October 2012, Taiping Ancient Town was rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction.
