How much does it cost to travel to Bhutan?

I traveled to Bhutan last week, and roughly calculated how much it would cost to travel to Bhutan, for reference only. First of all, there is no RMB in circulation in Bhutan, so you need to change RMB into US dollars before going abroad, and then change it into Nu (Bhutanese currency) locally. The exchange rate is about 1 USD, which can be exchanged for about 50 Nu.

Traveling to Bhutan is not as cheap as many consumer items in Thailand and many scenic spots in China. But there are also expensive and cheap ones! There are thousands, there are tens of thousands! I traveled to Bhutan with a group for a week, which was very cheap! The cost is around 5000.

Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, is a this beautiful city in the Himalayas and the political and religious center of the country. The city is surrounded by dense forests and the air is fresh. The urban area is small, and the main street of 12 is quiet and clean, with shops, hotels and cinemas on both sides. Most of the houses are scattered along the banks of Wanghe River, which are full of distinctive national characteristics. Two or three floors of earth buildings are used to raise poultry and store tools, food and other sundries. The upper floor is the living room. The whole house was painted red and green with bright colors.

Hotels in Thimphu are classified into three categories: luxury, A and B. The Uma Hotel where Tony Leung Chiu Wai Carina Lau, the star, lives is luxury, and the room rate is 400- 1200 USD. If it is a class, it is much lower. A-class hotel is equivalent to a three-star hotel in China.

For tourists who are picky about hotels, they can choose to stay at Uma Hotel, Zhihualin Hotel, Taj Hotel and even the most luxurious Amman Hotel. Away from towns and villages, there are some houses specially built for climbers at the foot of forests and mountains, and the accommodation is very quiet and warm.

At present, Bhutan is not open and free, and has no diplomatic relations with China. Travel to Bhutan is generally carried out through a team. The government of Bhutan requires each person to spend no less than 200 dollars on tourism in Bhutan, including transportation and accommodation.

In the west of Thimphu, there is China's only international airport: Paro Airport, and a runway serves Bhutan's national airline: Royal Bhutan Airlines. Bhutan Airlines is the only airline that can enter and leave Bhutan.

The living habits of Thimphu people are similar to those of China people. They also eat jiaozi. However, Thimphu cuisine is even more spicy than Sichuan cuisine in China. People in Thimphu regard peppers as vegetables, not spices. Every roof is covered with red pepper. In daily life, people in Thimphu not only add a lot of dried peppers to any dish, but also like to eat raw peppers instead of chopping them directly in the cold salad.

Historically, Thimphu was the residence of religious leaders, and many beautifully carved temple buildings and castles have been preserved to this day, the most famous of which is a building called "Zhaxi Quzong" (meaning "Tianfu"). This building, which was built in the13rd century, has been rebuilt twice, reappearing the architectural style of "Zong" in Bhutan's history and has a typical Bhutanese architectural style. There are more than 100 houses in this fortress-like courtyard, where the King's Office of Bhutan, Zandu (National Assembly) and the largest temple in the country are located. It can be said that it is the seat of the highest political and religious authority in Bhutan.

Sintoka Castle is also a very representative ancient building. Built in 1627, it is the oldest castle with retaining wall in Bhutan. Once the social, religious and educational center of Bhutan, this castle is now a cultural institution for studying Buddhism for monks. Bhutan's palace is located in Deqin Qulinzong, not far from Thimphu. This is a beautiful royal garden with ponds, pavilions and lush grass. A three-story palace is hidden among willows and has a quiet scenery. Near the palace, there is also a temple, which is said to be a place where monks practice sex.

Although it is not expensive to travel to Bhutan, you should budget your own expenses before going. After all, being in a foreign country has more advantages than disadvantages.
