Extended information

Origin of the name:

In the early 1990s, a man from Heilongjiang wrote a letter to his family who had just arrived in Bayuquan for business. I heard about "Bayuquan", but I didn't know which three characters it was, so I made associations based on the pronunciation and guessed that it was the name of a certain agricultural reclamation area built by the state, so I wrote "Bayi", circled the word with an "○", and enveloped The words "Yingkou City 810 District" appeared on it.

Fortunately, the postman in Yingkou City had good interpretation skills and delivered the letter smoothly. The recipient of the letter, on the other hand, was puzzled by "August 10" and didn't understand the whole story until he talked to a friend on the phone.

More outsiders mistakenly write Bayu as "squid". A reporter from the Yingkou Development Zone newspaper received a parcel in the mail and laughed loudly when he looked closely. It turned out that the email address was written as "squid circle". There are also many people who write "Bayuquan" according to the local dialect pronunciation. On the map of Liaoning Province published in the 1960s, Bayuquan was labeled "Bayuquan".

In addition, the word "quan" in Bayuquan is a polyphonic character. If you don't hear it pronounced by locals, uninformed outsiders will pronounce it as "juàn" and think it is a place where bayuquan is farmed.
