The best route for a one-day trip to Xitang: Introduction to a one-day trip to Xitang

Tangxi Ancient Town has an admirable long history and cultural heritage. The classic layout of the Jiangnan water town here does bring endless surprises and joy to people. You will face a series of water town cultural elements. This May Day holiday, you can go there in person, experience it, and have fun.

Option 1:

Ni Tianzeng Ancestral Residence Exhibition Hall, Ming and Qing Wood Sculpture Hall, Shipi Lane, West Street.

Option 2:

Zhongfutang Xiyuan Button Museum Zhang Zhenggen Sculpture Art Museum Jiangnan Wadang Exhibition Hall Yongning Bridge Yuyan Corridor Songzilaifeng Bridge Huanxiu Bridge Zuiyuan Huguo Temple of King Liang of Sui Dynasty.

Tangxi Ancient Town is one of the birthplaces of Wuyue culture. It is a well-preserved 250,000 square meters of Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings in the town. Its large scale and intact preservation are rare in Jiangnan. Qu Street is built along the river, and the houses are built along the water. It is known as a living thousand-year-old ancient town.

1. Geographical location

Located in the northern part of Jiashan County, Tangxi Town, it is connected to National Highway 320 to the south, Shanghai-Hangzhou-Shenzhen-Shanghai Expressway to the north, National Highway 318 to the north, and the Hangzhou-Shenyang first-class waterway. Passing through the town, the Jiangshan first-class highway passes through the town.

If you have never taken a quick trip, if you happen to pass by Shanghai, if you happen to pass by Hangzhou, and you happen to have time, why not come to Xitang to take a rest: in three bars before midnight Release yourself, sit quietly by Wolong Bridge after midnight and experience history.

Surrounding Attractions

Feelings: The location is excellent, but the Jiangnan Ancient Town looks very similar to the water and bridges. It is not recommended to go to Guanqian Street in Suzhou, Wuzhen in Tongxiang, Zhouzhuang in Nanxun Town, and Kunshan. Vision can easily cause fatigue. Unlike Gansu, the landforms are complex and diverse, and the scenery along the way has its own characteristics from south to north.

Second, time planning

If it is an impromptu trip, there is no time limit at all, but you can consider avoiding the weekend after Qingming Festival. According to a shopkeeper in the town, because the climate is slightly cooler and it rains heavily, there will be fewer people coming to Qingming Festival, but a week later is a good time for spring outings, and there will be a lot of people.

I went to Xitang twice, the first time on the weekend after Qingming Festival and the second time on Qingming Festival.

Compared with the first push and shove, there were much fewer people on the street the second time, and the hustle and bustle of commercialization was gone. Only then did I slowly appreciate the precipitation of the small bridges and running water of the thousand-year-old city.

Three. Transportation Guide

1. Public transportation:

Take k222 from Jiashan South Station, which takes about an hour and fifteen minutes and goes directly to Xitang. The fare is 2 yuan.

Jiashan South Station also has direct buses to Xitang. It takes an hour and costs 8 yuan.

Take k210/k215/k216 from Jiashan Station. It takes about 40 minutes to reach Xitang. The fare is 2 yuan.

2. Shared cars

Coming out of Jiashan Station, there will be many private cars that can be shared with other tourists. It takes about half an hour and costs about 15 yuan per person.

Starting from Jiashan South Station, carpooling is not recommended. A little more expensive, more than 35 yuan.

Four. Accommodation tickets

If it is outside of holidays, you should be able to book hotels in the scenic area, which can be found on major platforms such as Alipay.

If it is a holiday, the possibility of booking a hotel in the scenic spot is very low. Even if various apps list scenic spots, they may be separated from the scenic spots by a ticket gate.

Then why is it best to live in scenic spots?

Because after 7 pm and before 7:30 am, no tickets are required to enter the attractions. If you don’t plan to see some attractions that require admission, you can take this route. The full price of tickets is 100 yuan, and the discount price is 55 yuan. Hotel owners in scenic spots usually have preferential prices, so you can book a hotel before traveling. It is best to contact the hotel owner directly. The locals are quite reliable in this regard.

The hotel we booked last time was next to Wolong Bridge, just outside the ticket gate, but the owner was very nice and the hotel was very cost-effective.

So, it is recommended that you go to the scenic spot after 6 pm. The uncles and aunts at the ticket gate on non-holidays get off work before eight o'clock. When you come at six o'clock

The corridor, in ancient Chinese architecture, is actually a road with a roof, often seen in gardens. It is a kind of building that is both "guiding" and "viewing". It has both the function of transportation and the purpose of viewing.

Notes on attractions

Yuyan Gallery is the most famous attraction in Xitang. It is a unique building in the south of the Yangtze River and a unique landscape of the ancient town.

Xitang’s verandah attracts Chinese and foreign tourists with its unique elegance and charm. Corridors are mostly made of brick and wood structures, concentrated in commercial areas such as Beizha Street, Nanzha Street, and Chaonan Zone, and can provide shade and shelter from rain. Chaoyirangpeng has a history of hundreds of years, with white walls and black tiles, and its shadow sinks into the river in front of the door. A gust of wind blew, and the wet and shiny stillness faded like ink.

When there are not many people, stroll along the promenade, with shops on one side and a river that has been flowing for thousands of years. Looking at the reflection of the lights in the water, I believe you will like this comfortable, leisurely and historical feeling.

2. Shipi Lane

Shipi Lane is the longest alley in Xitang, and it is also an easily overlooked attraction. It is located on Xiaxi Street, Tangxi Town, in the "Zhongfutang" "The west end of the city. It is an open-air alley sandwiched between two houses, built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties.

Alley

Among the 122 alleys of different lengths in Tangxi Town, Shipi Alley is the narrowest, with a width of only 1 meter and a narrowest point of only 0.8 meters. 68 meters. Paved with 166 stones, the alley is flat and has a sewer underneath. The stepped gables on the left and right walls of Pinon are 6-10 meters high and have completely retained their ancient and unique charm. It is deep and narrow, and the stone is as thin as skin, so it is called Shipi Alley.

I have only visited this attraction twice, and I just walked through it. Stopping is a good angle for taking pictures. Don’t forget those who travel. In the early morning or at sunset, you can walk through this long alley and the bluestone slabs, listen to the clear footsteps on the bluestone slabs, look at the stone alley, touch the stones on the wall, and imagine the depth of the courtyard in the Spring and Autumn Period. In a deeply locked era, feel the precipitation of history with your heart.

3. Except for three blocks.

The bar is three blocks away. There used to be one, now there are three. The whole street is full of bars, so I won’t describe them in detail or recommend them because I haven’t been to a few of them myself.

However, it is worth mentioning that if you are a fan of Dabing, if you are a wanderer, if you just like their playing and singing, if you are a good listener, then Go for it! Go sit inside and you will have a different feeling.

Dr. Bing’s Hut

When I go to Xitang, I think it’s worth going to Bar Street twice. Why two trips?

Before 11:30, you could listen, watch, play, drink, feel the business, feel the city, and feel the passion and hustle and bustle of the predecessors.

On the second trip, after 11:30, you will find that the street is very quiet, completely different from five minutes ago, like two worlds.

After coming out of the bar, you can sit on the Wolong Bridge, the highest bridge in Xitang, and feel the time and history again.

Six. Delicious food

It is known as the best noodles in the world, but it is not recommended to northerners. The noodles in the north are very popular, but the noodles in Jiaxing are a bit raw. It may ruin the other person's good impression.

Youth League

If you are in Qingming, you can try Qingpu dumplings.

As for other snacks, every food street is roughly the same. If you're hungry, go to a restaurant and try some fresh food.

Other people say that the roasted bullfrog in Jiashan is the best, but I dare not recommend it because I really don’t dare to eat it and I have never looked for it.

Let’s stop writing about Xitang here. At the end, I will attach a poem to express the people and things when I met Xitang twice.
