The only means of transportation to Penghu is by plane. You can also take a boat from Chiayi Butai Port. Located in Xiyu The Erkan settlement has a history of about 400 years, and the building has a history of about 200 years. It is now a national third-level ancient monument. One interesting thing about Erkan is that the whole village has the surname Chen. Mr. Chen Yanyi, the founder of the Erkan villagers, crossed the sea from Xiaxing (formerly known as Xiakeng) in Kinmen to Pengcheng around the end of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. He first landed in Dachijiao (now Dachi Village) and then moved eastward to the area at the foot of Guishan in Zhuwan for fishing and reclamation. We were lucky enough to encounter their incense rubbing staff working overtime. Mr. Chen from the Association also let us experience a little incense rubbing. Although we only wanted to rub one end to the tip, the hand strength was wrong. Not only will it not be sharp when rubbed, but it will also crack. There is no whole raw egg, but there is chicken excrement. We should just be obedient and do DIY (sweat~).

The big-eyed ship is named because of the pair of big eyes on its bow. The eyes are divided into: looking up and looking down. Looking up at the merchant ships (hopefully you can see climate changes clearly), and down at the fishing boats (hopefully you can see where the fish are and where the rocks are). According to Mr. Chen, the big-eye boat was used by their ancestors when they came to Taiwan, so the painted big-eye boat was used as a cultural feature and commemoration.

The painted big-eye boat will be coated with a layer of varnish and a spring (for incense sticks) will be glued in the middle of the boat to become a very cute big-eye boat incense holder. The process of discovering the Daguoye columnar basalt was very special.
