"National Day" travel: enjoy local food in the most spicy place in Zhejiang
The "Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai" we often call is definitely a good place, with many interesting places and convenient transportation! But the only thing that makes me regret is that the food in this region is generally sweet and not as spicy as Hunan, Jiangxi, and Sichuan! However, there are exceptions to everything. There is a city in Zhejiang that has a spicier taste than other "brother" cities. Its name is: Quzhou. Quzhou has jurisdiction over 2 districts, 3 counties and one prefecture-level city. I have been to several other places, but Longyou County has not been touched, so it was natural to come here this time!
Longyou is a thousand-year-old county with a history of more than 2,240 years. It is one of the first 13 counties in the history of Zhejiang Province and has profound historical and cultural deposits. However, my original intention is still to focus on the food here, because I know that Longyou County has local specialties such as Longyou Fa Gao, Longyou Steamed Buns and "Three Heads and One Palm". I must taste them one by one during this trip, without any ambiguity!
I came to Longyou two days before the National Day holiday. I thought it would be perfect to give myself a holiday in advance and stagger the peak tourist period. But I didn’t expect that the weather was not very good. It started to drizzle, so there was no way to go to many natural scenic spots, so I was able to focus more on food. My first stop was "Zhejiang" Hongmu Town is one of the first batch of characteristic towns in the province. The night view here is super beautiful, and there is also a special night market and food street. It is definitely not to be missed!
In the Redwood Town Food Night Market, I found that almost every stall was very popular. I bought the meatballs from the one with the most customers, and they were sold out as soon as they came out of the pot. They really tasted good. Especially, although it is in a scenic spot, the price is not expensive at all, only ten yuan per serving.
After eating all the snacks, I also packed rabbit heads, duck heads and duck paws to take back for midnight snacks. "Three heads and one palm" is my favorite Longyou snack, and it’s also spicy. The spicy braised food has given Quzhou the name "Little Sichuan". "Three heads and one palm" is not just a kind of food, but a collective name for rabbit head, duck head, fish head and duck paw. I looked up the origins of Quzhou’s “Three Heads and One Palm” and there are different opinions. As a foreign tourist, I won’t go into details. The most important thing is that it tastes good! Moreover, in Quzhou, whether in high-end hotels or roadside food stalls, you can find the figure of "three heads and one palm", which shows that it is one of the representatives of the food culture of Longyou and even Quzhou.
Still unsatisfied with the snacks at the night market, we left Hongmu Town and came to Longyou County the next day. I and my friends found the number one local restaurant in the area on the well-known review software. After entering the door, we felt that we had come to the right place, because there were many award plaques at the entrance. One of them in the upper left corner said "Top Ten Specialty Restaurants Most Popular by Citizens". Real foodies understand that awards given by many organizations may There is water content, but it must be right to be recognized by the people. It also corresponds to the old saying: "Gold cups and silver cups are not as good as the reputation of the people."
The restaurant is quite large inside, and the kitchen is semi-open. Visitors can view the dishes, order them, and then send them to the kitchen for processing. Due to the length of the article, a person with "difficulty in choosing" will tell you about three dishes in the store that I think are very unique! Anyway, it is my must-order when entering the store!
The first dish is the old duck and pork belly stew. This dish was featured on Zhejiang Satellite TV’s gourmet program, so it is highly recommended by the store. The old duck is tender and tender, the pork belly is crispy, and the soup is very rich and flavorful. It is also good to eat with rice. Especially the pork belly, it doesn’t have any peculiar smell because it is pig offal, and the taste is very chewy.
The second course is reservoir fathead fish. When I go to a place, I always fall in love with local ingredients. There is no high transportation insurance cost and the freshness is better. The fathead fish from the local reservoir is only 39 yuan/jin. It tastes spicy. It is different from the milky white fish soup like Qiandao Lake and has a richer and more delicious taste.
The third thing is that Long You must be in trouble! For a city that loves spicy food, one of its representative delicacies is actually a staple food pastry, and it has become a national geographical indication product of China. The color of the finished product is as white as jade. Its biggest feature is that it is fermented by adding an appropriate amount of glutinous rice wine during the production process. It has a soft and glutinous taste and a sweet aftertaste. Because "Fa Gao" is a homophone of "Fu Gao", it has the auspicious connotation of "Fa Gao every year, every step of the way". There is also a circle of Longyou steamed buns around it. The steamed buns here are also very different. They are filled with dried bamboo shoots, diced pork and other fillings. The opening at the top is different from the steamed buns, and also means "completeness".
There are many more dishes in this meal, so I won’t go into details one by one.
To sum up the food in Longyou: many snacks have certain geographical indications, and you may not be able to eat them outside Longyou; and the food in Longyou is spicy, which suits my stomach! If you like food as much as I do, then you must come to Longyou!
