Domestic Tourists’ World Tourism Organization Definition of Domestic Tourists

In 1984, the World Tourism Organization defined domestic tourists with reference to the definition of international tourists: people who travel within the country of their residence for more than 24 hours but less than one year, the purpose can be for recreation , vacation, sports, business, official affairs, conferences, recuperation, study and religion, etc. Later, additional regulations were added: Domestic tourists do not include those who go out to work. People who visit a place for less than 24 hours for any of the above purposes are called domestic short-term visitors.
