The first time I saw a gecko in person was when I traveled to Macau in the summer of 2011. In that not-so-luxury but also a five-star hotel. In order to show the hotel's service attitude, my room was upgraded from a regular room to an executive suite. This was my first time seeing a gecko in person.

This time I was in a villa. I got up in the middle of the night, opened the door and saw a little gecko jumping up and then crawling quickly on the floor. Because it was not the first time I met him, I was surprised at first. It's midnight and I can't wake everyone up. Considering that the gecko is poisonous and cannot let it do whatever it wants indoors, I had no choice but to take out the paper in the room and "fight" with the gecko alone. I covered it with thick paper. I didn't dare to handle it with my hands, so I stepped on it with my feet. Unexpectedly, its vitality was particularly strong and it continued to crawl rapidly. At this time, I also saw a small thing twisting and jumping, like a "gecko" just coming out of the mother's womb. I was really scared! However, I don't know where the courage came from. I continued to fight with them. It took a long time and I used all my hands and feet. It feels like eliminating a huge disaster for mankind. The whole process was very scary and painful. After processing it, I was too exhausted to sleep. This can be regarded as a very unusual night in my life.

I am thinking that life is not only a climbing process, but also a dangerous one. Why do things that we never think about in daily life suddenly happen without any preparation? I am timid, but not afraid. Maybe this is God trying to test me?

Out of curiosity, I turned on my phone and took a closer look at the gecko. It turns out that geckos are nocturnal animals. During the day, it lurks in hidden places such as wall cracks, under tile eaves, and behind cupboards, and comes out at night. In the evenings of summer and autumn, geckos often appear on walls illuminated by lights, under eaves, or on electric poles, preying on mosquitoes, flies, moths, spiders, etc. They are beneficial and harmless animals.

What’s more interesting is that when a gecko is frightened or captured, its tail will break immediately as soon as it touches it, and the gecko will take the opportunity to escape. Because there are many nerves in a broken tail, after it leaves the body, the nerves do not lose their function immediately, so they will still swing, which has a scaring effect, and sometimes can achieve the purpose of self-defense. It is said that the gecko's tail can get into people's ears after it is broken off. This is absolutely impossible. Because most of the severed tails fall on the ground, even if they are still on the wall, although they still swing, they no longer have the ability to move directionally, so they will not get into people's ears. Even if a gecko breaks off a section of its tail, it will not affect its normal life. After a short period of time, the tail of the gecko will grow back again.

In fact, the meaning of the gecko is very good. It is also known as the gecko. In traditional Chinese culture, it is called the Tianlong. It is good at flying over eaves and walking on walls.
