Introduction to three-day tour of Lake Baikal
Lake Baikal is a scenic area in Siberia. The best time to visit Lake Baikal is in winter, because in winter there will be a thick layer of ice on Lake Baikal, and you can walk twice on it. So what to do in Lake Baikal? This is a travel guide to Lake Baikal. You can take a look.
The first stop
As the first stop when visiting Lake Baikal, almost all tourists will choose Irkutsk to disembark. There are many direct flights in China, among which the Siberian flight from Beijing to 3K operates year round. Book in advance for better discounts. The flight time from Beijing is only 3 hours, with no time difference.
Irkutsk is not like Old Moscow. It has the unique romance and style of the old Soviet Union. The ancient monastery, the fairy-tale castle church, the scenic Angara River, and the bustling Marx Street in winter cover the entire urban area, all of which show how people live in this city.
Recommended one-day trip to Irkutsk: Kazan Cathedral of Our Lady - China Monastery - Angara River - Spasskaya Church - Karl-Marx Street
Kazan Cathedral
A very famous church in Siberia. Its architectural style is typical Byzantine style, with thick red exterior walls and blue cross domes. In the early morning, the sun will shine in through the flower windows of the dome, and believers praying inside will be filled with an inexplicable warmth from a distance, giving them an extra sense of sustenance and trust.
Angora River
The Angora River is different from the tranquility of Lake Baikal in winter. Because of its speed, the Angora River does not freeze. Some people walk along the river, some go fishing, and most couples take wedding photos here. There are many wishing locks hung on the railings, and the prosperous scene heals people's hearts.
Karl-Marx Street
Karl-Marx is the most important street in Irkutsk. The entire street runs almost across the entire Irkutsk. Be sure to come and take a walk. Bars, supermarkets, cafes, etc. They are all gathered here, as well as cosmetics stores, gold stores, musical instrument stores, etc. It's quite prosperous.
While shopping, there are also Irkutsk’s iconic attractions, museums, stadiums, cinemas, etc. Along the road, there are special European architectural styles.
One day in Irkutsk city is enough. The next day, I will set off for the main destination of this trip, Olkhon Island, the largest island in Lake Baikal.
Second stop
The tour route of Olkhon Island is divided into a southern route and a northern route. Along this route, you can enjoy the most mainstream attractions of Lake Baikal. The natural environment is well preserved, and the island is half forest and half grass.
Currently the best way to visit Lake Baikal is to charter a car or sign up for a one-day tour. 1 Individual tours of Olkhon Island are suitable for group tours. The best way for 3-4 people to travel to Olkhon Island is undoubtedly a chartered car.
To get from Irkutsk city to the ferry terminal, you need to change transportation. Every year from April to December, large ferries shuttle between the ferry terminal and Olkhon Island. The ferry can even carry cars.
From February to April, Lake Baikal is completely frozen, and cars can drive directly from the ice to Olkhon Island. But the ice is not very strong in January, so people either take hovercrafts to the island or take the icebreakers of the fighting nations.
If you are driving during the Ice Age, you can experience it for yourself and stand on the ice of Lake Baikal. The crisscrossing ice cracks on the soles of the feet spread outward and seemed to be about to crack in an instant, which was quite shocking.
Bubble ice is one of the specialties of Lake Baikal. A string of cute little bubbles were frozen in the lake, as numerous as stars, very beautiful.
Pick up a small piece of ice and feel the transfer of minus 20 degrees from the wool gloves to the surface of the skin. It's really cool. The inside of the ice is extremely transparent, without a trace of impurities. Looking at the sky and mountains in the distance through Xiaobing takes on a different look.
When you get to the island, you need to transfer to the Vach bus with the characteristics of Olkhon Island. It looks cute, much like the Volkswagen minibus. It is a four-wheel drive off-road bus manufactured by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant in the former Soviet Union. This is the kind of bus you always take when going to the island.
Olkhon Island Tourist Route
Olkhon Island is divided into north and south routes. Each route is enough for one day. If you have enough time, you can stay for three days. Spend one more day on the island in peace and quiet.
Southern route of Olkhon Island: Log House Museum - Heart-shaped Lake - Pagoda Island - Ice Hanging Cave - Stone Forest, climb to the horizon.
Northern route of Orly Island: Face Mountain-Three Brothers Stone-Aishan-Habay Cape-Harlands
Museum
The wooden house is located in the forest On an open space, the entire museum looks more like an open-air park. All buildings are built with the most primitive wood, simple and mellow, and are a true portrayal of the life and residence of Russians and Buryats. Among more than 40 buildings and 8,000 exhibits, visitors can see the animal skins and birch tents of the Evenki people, the yurts of the Britt people, and the autonomous huts of the ancient Buryat people in Russia.
Binghang Cave
There are two small caves covered with ice picks. Tourists can get in and take pictures, because the background is so shocking and they are all blockbusters.
Three Smiling Stones
There are three juxtaposed huge stones on the lakeside cliff on the northern line, which are called the Three Brothers Stones. Legend has it that there was a warrior who had three brothers and a daughter, so he indulged his daughter and strictly controlled her.
So he became more rebellious and yearned for the outside world. One day, he ran away with the man he loved. His father was very angry when he heard the news and sent his three sons to stop him. Then the three brothers loved the little princess very much and deliberately delayed time for his sister to escape.
So the father became even more angry. He turned the three brothers into stones and wanted to stand on the stones of Olkhon Island forever until his sister came back. Today it is an excellent viewing location on Olkhon Island.
Khabay Cape
Khabay Cape is a spectacular rock located in the northernmost part of Olkhon Island. Habaie means canine and molar in Buryat language, as this rock is inserted into the water like a tooth. But when viewed from the lake, it looks like a woman's face, like the female sculpture on the bow of an ancient Greek warship, so it is also called the Virgin Stone.
Third stop
Li Town (Listvyanka Town)
Li is a small town with a special flavor, facing the blue lagoon and backed by a forest . There are no busy cars or feasting here, just tall birch trees, colorful huts and enthusiastic Russian residents.
A ski resort and sightseeing cable car have been built on Chersky Mountain in Lilei. From the top of the mountain, you can overlook the panoramic view of Lake Baikal. You can also take a cruise and go diving in the middle of the lake. Even in the cold winter, diving is hot!
Of course, the most recommended activity in Leizhen is the Russian bath!
What is a Russian bath?
First, you need to bring a felt pullover into the room and steam it in the ultra-high temperature sauna. The felt is used to protect the ears from being burned. If you are walking together, you need to beat each other's body with branches until the body turns red and can no longer withstand the high temperature for a second. Russians believe this can massage and promote blood circulation.
Then jump into the lake to cool down. Note, it’s Lake Baikal in winter! Just thinking about it is extremely exciting, cruel, and exciting! It is really a sauna created by the fighting nation.
Friends who can't stand the temperature of the lake water, stay in the sauna~
