5. Zhaga Waterfall, Muni, Aba, Sichuan
Zhaga Waterfall, 40 kilometers away from Songpan County, is located in Housigou, Sanlian Village, Muni Scenic Area. Zhaga means rapids on white rocks in Tibetan. Zhaga Waterfall is one of the two major landscapes in Muni Valley Scenic Area. Zhaga Waterfall is located at the foot of Zhaga Mountain at the end of Zhaga Valley. The starting point of Zhaga Waterfall is 3270 meters above sea level, and the landing point is 3176 meters above sea level. The height of the waterfall is 93.7 meters, the width of the waterfall is 35 to 40 meters, and the flow rate in summer is 2 to 5 cubic meters per second.
It is a stepped waterfall with a flow rate of 23 cubic meters per second in summer. The upstream of the waterfall is a lake, and the downstream is a stepped river bed. The lake water falls rapidly from the huge calcified ladder sill, tumbles down through three travertine steps, and impacts the huge travertine stone wall, forming a huge waterfall body. For ten miles, it is like the beating of war drums and the galloping of thousands of horses. Extended information
A waterfall is called falling water in geology, which is the phenomenon of river water falling vertically from a high altitude when flowing through faults, depressions and other areas. A waterfall is a temporary feature that will eventually disappear during the lifetime of the river.
A waterfall is an area where flowing river water falls suddenly and almost vertically, and is a major interruption in the flow of river water.
In most cases, rivers smooth out uneven spots in their path through processes of erosion and siltation. After a period of time, the vertical section (slope curve) of the river will form a smooth arc: the steepest at the source and the gentlest at the mouth. Falls interrupt this arc, showing the progression of the erosion process.
A waterfall is also called a waterfall (falls, also translated as a waterfall), and sometimes it is also called a cataract. The latter is especially used when talking about a large amount of water. Lower, less steep waterfalls are called cascades, a name often used to refer to a series of small falls along a river. Some river sections have a gentler slope, but turbulence and white water occur where the river slope increases locally. These river sections are called rapids.
In some cases, waterfalls are located where cliffs or scarps are eroded by water and recede upstream, while in other cases this erosion tends to cut deeper and diagonally downward. Contains the entire river section with waterfalls. Over time, the combination of these factors makes it inevitable that any waterfall that might have formed will disappear.
The energy of the river will eventually produce a relatively smooth, concave-up longitudinal profile. Even when gravel as a tool for river erosion is absent, the energy available for waterfall base erosion is substantial.
One of the characteristic features associated with waterfalls of any size, and also with flow and height, is the presence of a plunge pool. A plunge pool is a basin dug out of the river channel below the plunge pool. In some cases, the depth of a plunge pool may approximate the height of the cliff that created the waterfall. The plunge pool eventually caused the cliff face to collapse and the waterfall to recede.
The cliff causing the water to fall will continue to collapse under the strong impact of the water flow, causing the waterfall to retreat upstream and reduce its height, eventually causing the waterfall to disappear.
